Communication improvement

There's a huge issue of miscommunication between Niantic and the community (which is not even exclusive to Wayfarer). It is something that the userbase feels constantly and is a huge source of frustration and mistrust in the Wayfarer team. It's nothing new either.
Many people often feel that it's hard to get the team's attention for pressing issues; that comments made by Niantic employees are vague and evasive; replies seem like copy-pasted script even in situations where it's not expected/required at all (not replies to reports, appeals, etc).
Apart from the ambassadors program (which is very early on, and already had its own issues - see the choice to drop the 12th ambassador and the community outcry that followed it) and the Twitter account - what steps is Niantic currently and actively taking to improve communication with the userbase? Are there specific causes for this miscommunication that the team is particularly aware of and is working on, and if so, how? Is there a "roadmap" of improvements planned for the near or far future?

Yes, lack of communication is NOT a good way to motivate volunteers. Non-profits know this, but this particular for-profit does not.
I would like to point put that Ambassadors are apparently so uninformed as far as communication goes that they had to ask AMA questions here like the rest of us, nor have I yet to see any instance where ambassadors were able to act as a liaison between Niantic and the community. It doesn't seem like the program is being used effectively at all as far as communication goes.
I should note that I don't think this is because the Ambassadors aren't trying (at least the ones who actually interact with the community, anyways), but rather that Niantic does not appear to be communicating with their Ambassadors to empower them with such information that they can share with the greater community.
.
You know, I still don't know what ambassadors are meant to do, like, it wasn't explained originally and they still weren't sure when it they were introduced
Just wanted to chime in here, given that I am an ambassador who has posted an AMA question… I felt that the question I posted would benefit from allowing others in the community to have their own input in shaping the conversation. So posting my question here was an intentional choice.

Almost six months later and apart from a flurry of communication re: the cirteria challenge, communication is still as bad as skewered balls.
