I have been trying to get this renamed since 2017, possibly earlier (that is the earliest email I can find). The correct name for this sculpture is the "Orestes and Pylades Fountain". Instead the title is a generic one based on the current location. Despite multiple efforts to rename this, it either gets rejected or I simply receive no answer. I am asking Niantic to correct this work of public art to the correct title.

Niantic,
I asked for this portal to be renamed, and instead it has now been deleted.
I did not ask for this to be deleted. There is a sidewalk and safe pedestrian access directly in front of the portal, and I will update this thread tomorrow with photos once it is daylight out.
Why are you taking it upon yourselves to judge the validity of a portal when we ask for a rename? Why should people use these appeals if you're going to remove valid portals from the network based on outdated street view?
This is crazy. The information provided for reviewers for edits is often limited. This is a great Piece of public art and is exactly the kind of POI we should have. Far more interesting than a gazebo.
Thank you. The portal has a sidewalk directly in front of it with clear pedestrian access.
Deleting this portal is a completely inappropriate response to this appeal. If this is how Niantic handles rename requests, why should anyone ever use Wayfarer forums?
Clear, safe pedestrian access.
Then can you show if there is any safe pedestrian crossing into the island? By the way Street view isn't updated yet.
Yes. Safe sidewalks and crosswalks all the way around. Older photo from 2 years ago, the barrels are no longer there.
It's not my fault Street View is outdated and if Niantic is going to make decisions based on that, then they need to say that upfront so that we can provide supporting evidence of pedestrian safety when asking for a rename.
Thanks for the appeal, @thesolo-ING! Based on our research, we’ve decided to retire the Portal in question.
