Please help?

Hi. I just nominated my first Wayspot a few days ago. Since then, I did like 400 reviews so that I could upgrade my nomination… just to have it marked as duplicate a few hours later.

Can someone help me check if there’s already a Wayspot where I nominated mine? I know I can appeal my nomination, but I just want to make sure first. I don’t think I will bother to appeal if it really is a duplicate. Also I didn’t verify myself because the steps to do it are a little too complicated for me (sorry).

If you’re willing to help, please respond and I will send the coordinates to the location later. Thank you!

Why couldn't you just put those coordinates into the opening post? And also give a little bit more info about what you were trying to nominate.

Also this is a completely wrong subforum if you do not want to know about criteria clarifications...

It's very easy to check if there's a duplicate in that zone or not.

Go there, open Pokemon Go and start the nomination process, in the screen to select the location you'll see all the surrounding wayspots in that zone, including those that aren't in Pokemon Go.

Sorry, as you can see I am new to the forums, so I didn’t know where to go for my problem.

@Phoeliark28-PGO All good – everyone's new here once.

    So, welcome! 😀

Criteria Clarifications is for questions about the meaning of the acceptance and rejection criteria themselves. I hope the meaning of "duplicate submission" is self-evident. :P

This feels like the sort of question that belongs in Nomination Improvement, but it's not really an exact fit there either. Nomination Improvement is for questions about how to improve rejected submissions that may still be eligible with some edits. If your submission really is just a duplicate there's not really any improvement that can be made there. This is more a question about how to see existing Wayspots so you can verify if you submitted a duplicate or not – that's more of a General Discussion thing since we don't have a general help category.

As @WheelTrekker-ING pointed out, you can see other submissions and existing wayspots that don't appear as stops or gyms in PoGo during the submission process in-game. During the step where you confirm your submission's location on the map other existing submissions appear as blue pins. You can tap on those pins to see the title and photo for that submission.

For the future, if you have questions about one of your own submissions that was rejected, it's best to include screenshots of the entire submission from your contribution management page.

    Cheers!

@Cancun101-PGO Thanks a lot for your guidance!

I recopied my question (improved) in the General Discussions because I think it’s more likely to be seen over there. Thus I think this discussion has become irrelevant now.

One last thing though. Concerning what you mentioned about that way of viewing Pokestops via the game, I don’t believe that map also shows the Wayspots from other games, which from what I’ve searched, might have something to do with my nomination being marked as duplicate (I’m not 100% sure though).

    Have a good day!

The nomination screen in Pokémon go shows all the existing wayspots in the database, including those that don't appear in any game.

Oh really? Wow, thanks. I didn’t know that. In that case, my nomination shouldn’t be a duplicate because the map doesn’t show it. I’ll go make an appeal now.

I hope that you didn't waste an appeal with this nomination. @Hosette-ING has already told you in https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/32532/is-my-nomination-truly-a-duplicate that it's either a duplicate of "Bateau De Pirate Du Parc Frances..." or it won't show up in Pokemon Go because there's another wayspot "Vallincia Parc gazebo" in that S2 cell.

I'll show you a screenshot in the next post because posting images sends such posts to moderation, but the summary for you is that you must learn the relationship of Pokestops and Gyms with the S2 cells, otherwise you'll find out that many things that you nominate and are approved won't ever show up in Pogo.

This is what it looks like on the nomination screen when a spot exists, but not in Pogo. It’s not the greatest marker because the color doesn’t really grab you, but you can see the Wayfarer pin, then tap on it and you’ll get a pop-up of the name and image of the POI. This is very effective when the pin is in the correct location. I recently had a duplicate rejection because the pin was almost exactly 20 meters from the correct location, but that’s a different matter…

Nothing that you nominate in those shaded diamons will show up in Pogo.

I won't post links as the moderators might not like them, but it's easy to find out how to convert the Ingress Intel map into a map for Pokemon Go that displays those S2 cells.
