Golf / Frisbee holes

My understanding that individual holes on a golf and Frisbee course are to be rejected. A rule from a 2018 AMA. (I know, before the refresh). I just want to check, this is still active, as people have been reporting they are being approved by Niantic when they send the submissions to review.

Thanks

This is correct. There should be one POI for the course as a whole. If there's a sign, this is ideal (so long as it's not in the middle of the course and in the way of golfers), although if there is no sign, you can try nominating the first tee as an anchor point for the entire course (but you need to make sure it's clear that the nomination is for the course and not the hole).

Would you submit both goals of a football field along with the scoreboard and bleachers as separate Wayspots? Same idea.

You post this like you haven’t seen nominations for each goal of a single field, along with the scoreboard and the bleachers.

Thanks everyone, that's what I thought. Strange than the people doing reviews for Niantic are approving them. It's like they haven't been trained.

If you poke around this forum you'll find some glaring inconsistencies in the appeals results. I'm not sure they got any more training than normal reviewers do. TBD if that improves. In the meantime, I think it's very likely individual golf course holes have become de facto valid because they've started to make it into the database and many people interpret (or use) an appeal acceptance as Niantic's official answer about eligibility.

I'll still personally reject them for pedestrian access because I just don't feel it's safe for players to have their heads in their phones wandering around a golf (or especially disc golf) course. But anyway, I expect I'll loose out on agreements.

It seems like multiple trail signs are allowed, because they allow further exploration.

But the second hold of a frisbee golf course is not, even if it also allows further exploration. I can see a crowed all over the course as a bit annoying, though.

What about a golf hole photograph if this hole belongs to a public global golf parcours?

The essential meaning is not the hole, but the golf area. If the Niantic conditions are respected (public, access, doublon) , it's valid, no?

I think they're training AI. And yes, it should improve. 🙂

This is a really good question, I've had the same issue where I could see multiple golf holes and soccer posts being accepted as nominations, but they were all on the same fields. I would be getting disc golf hole #7 out of over 20 and it seemed excessive. They aren't exactly duplicates, but they are one of many in the same area. These aren't clearly defined in the rejection criteria so I wasn't sure which way to go with these.

@Jimbobwai-ING Twice you said that Niantic is accepting them. Are you talking about normal nominations, or appeals of rejected nominations?

99% of nominations are crowd-sourced reviewed, by us users/gamers (who also nominate thru our game). If golf holes are slipping thru, it's likely fellow Wayfarers voting incorrectly, not Niantic.
