K-12 Criteria Rejection
My town recently built a brand new sports complex. It has baseball diamonds, softball fields, a track, and a football field. I was under the impression that sports fields make good pokestops. I nominated the athletic fields but all got rejected claiming it was k-12 school criteria. This complex was built by the city, it’s not by the schools at all, and it’s open to the public. Yes, the school sports teams use the facility but so does everyone else. I’m not sure why these nominations got rejected. There isn’t a school anywhere near this faculty.
Comments
I have nominated athletic fields in the past and they have been approved.
Does the school have exclusive use of the sports complex at any time during the school day? If yes, then K-12 applies. If the kids are sharing the facilities and having lessons at the same time the general public are allowed into the complex then No - K-12 does not apply.
Lets have a look at your nominations - they may be something that makes reviewers thingk "K-12". We need to see both the photos and all the text.
I've had a sports field, couple of rugby and football pitches, which was located next to a school but about 200 feet away from the actual school rejected for the same reason.
I think in my case when it came up on the map or Street view the school was visible so enough reviewers didn't check and rejected it. I had it accepted on appeal though.
Was K-12 the only rejection reason?
I recently reviewed a bunch of nominations for an athletic complex that looked pretty new, and all the nominations referenced high school sports in the titles and descriptions. Were these yours?
Yes, those were mine! I realized that I couldn’t use high school in the title and plan on fixing those, but two of them did not have high school in the name. It is open to the public 24/7 and can be used by anyone in the community. People walk the track for exercise, kids play two hand touch on the field, and parents pitch to there kids on the diamonds. Its owned by the city, the school just uses it.
Also can I just resubmit the nominations with new titles, or would they be considered duplicates now that I already tried nominating them? Thanks!
I’m not sure how many nominations the whole complex got, but I saw maybe 3 or 4 that referenced high school sports and felt like I had to reject based on the text. Even though the map didn’t necessarily say or show that the area was associated with a school, the text did, and I had to assume the text was accurate.
A nomination is only a duplicate if it is first accepted, so any time you get a rejection you are free to resubmit with refined text or images or pin locations.
Speaking of pins, I think one of the pin locations (maybe the football field?) was in the middle of a field, and it should not be there. Pins for athletic fields should be around the edge, so that trainers/agents don’t have to walk out into the middle of a game to access a POI.
Thanks so much! That is extremely helpful. I appreciate this because I had no idea how this all worked.
If your nomination has been rejected, then it didn't make it into the Lightship database, so there are no worries about any new submissions being "Duplicates". Resubmit away.
