Using the HOLD button to manipulate upgrades

I’m not sure how it works with everyone else’s account but I am not able to upgrade a nomination any longer pressing the upgrade button. It appears that the oldest nomination automatically gets upgraded which I assume has been discussed many times on this form.
Question. Let’s say I am getting close to earning an upgrade and I place several of the oldest nominations on hold in order to upgrade the nomination that I would prefer. Once the upgrade is applied and I take the other ones off of hold is the approval process for the ones that I put on hold affected? Asking for a friend lol. Head to the settings and turn off automatic upgrades! :) With this setting turned off, you have full power over your nominations and they will only be upgraded if you say so!

I just went to a park a couple of days ago, I did around 10 noms I put all but one on hold to upgrade later. If it gets in voting without it would take months to plus a year to everything getting reviewed. I miss upgrading and withdrawing stuff in voting.
