Slow as Niantic

On 24 July, two nominations were subbed in different parks within a suburb:

  • Rotary Park
  • Kingswood Lions Park

Rotary Park was approved on 27 July, just three days after being submitted. However, Kingswood Lions Park, which was taken by Niantic almost immediately after being submitted still does not have a response to date. It has been 26 days, about seven times longer than the other park submitted and there is zero response whatsoever.

Additionally, another nomination which was meant to be upgraded at Melbourne Airport was also swiftly taken by Niantic. It was submitted before a flight on 23 July and was meant to be upgraded the moment the submitter got home, but it was already swiped. Even that nomination has not reached a verdict, and it would have within 2-6 days as soon as the upgraded nomination went in voting. Another community member's nomination of a mural which was submitted on 16 July still hasn't even reached a verdict to this day, and it has been over a month now.

Sydney has a natural queue time of 5 days on average. When your unwarranted intervention starts to take things away from us and disrupt the natural queue by shoving them into oblivion where the sun doesn't shine, that is extremely poor and unwelcome behaviour. You should not be taking freshly minted nominations, you should be taking nominations from places such as Kigali Rwanda, Midland TX, Ewell England, Thuringa Germany, or pretty much everyone and anywhere who has posted in the thread below:

Go steal those nominations instead of stealing from a mega-fast voting area where you take far too long to even start looking at our nominations. People are resubmitting nominations taken by you and are getting them approved in the meantime. I'm sure anyone who has put something that has tripped the overbearing censorship or has just written "update" in the description will probably have theirs reviewed first.

So when you do fix it, adjust your "pseudo-random parameters" to not swipe nominations that:

  • Are not in an area where nominations resolve within days or a month
  • Are not freshly submitted within the last 72 hours (make it even a week, if something in queue has been there and not going into voting in a week, maybe start taking those)

And actually do things FIFO. Your internal reviews are incredibly slow and the more work you impose onto yourself, the more overencumbered you will be, notwithstanding that you already are.

EDIT: Acknowledged the thread below which details the difference in times people can face. Some people get a response within 3 days, some about a month, while others have to wait several months, half a year, almost a whole year! Truly evidence that you are not FIFO at all, just a blight to the system.

I’ve got the same issue with one of my nominations. It has been sitting in Niantic Voting for weeks but if it had just been left to go through the usual channels it would have been accepted in a couple of days. Very frustrating indeed!

    • Actually, i did file the Appeal later, but the rejection just says the date that i submitted.

I had to sit out the 2 years of Covid-19, and now i had to sit even more, to just have it not accepted by Niantic. Which is fine - i just think the timespan is just not okay.

    It has been

    2 Years, 6 Month, 19 Days

Has not happened to me but I agree, those areas need a lot of help.

Meanwhile the Appealed nominations are evidently also not being reviewed FIFO, and also at an interminable sloth’s pace.

Made worse for those of us who intentionally did not abuse the process when it was still possible to appeal daily.

I’m still waiting on a golf driving range. Maybe not as se.xy as a sportsball field, but definitely still a place that encourages activity.
