Miniature railway nomination - public park setting but rejected
Hi all
I thought this would be one of my better wins as a nomination. But it was rejected.
Because it says other it is hard to know why. I kinda like this train. Generally only opened on weekends over summer and then only from 10 - 4.. Set in the middle of busy park. Clearly visible in google aerial and street. Listed on council website.
I walk past it most weekends on my coastal walk. Kind of refreshing to see such a little train running and all the young kids having so much fun. It has been here for 75 years.
Any help to improve would be great
Thanks

I think there are a large number of reviewers who decide on a nominations quality by the picture they first see and it's almost irrelevant how much or how detailed the extra info you add is.
Maybe not go with the shed as the picture?
I agree the shed is the problem. This is presented as a nomination for the shed itself, which just looks like a boring, featureless storage shed. I think you need to figure out how to nominate the entire train ride. Ideally, the main photo would show the train itself out on the track, but I understand if such a photo is difficult to take without a bunch of people in the photo. Barring that, a photo of a sign at the entrance or just a photo of the track itself might work. I would also most likely put the pin for the nomination at the ride entrance rather than on the shed.
The train and track look really neat. It has some great local history.
Would something like this work better maybe a wider shot but without the pesky humans in the background?
I agree ditch the shed as that’s storage.
what you would visit is the actual track or starter station so the idea ig @The26thDoctor-PGO is the way to go
I see where the train itself would be marked "Temporary" because it moves. So let's think about this green thing.
The word "shed" has boring/ordinary vibes. Also, "miniature train" brings to mind a train set where I could hold a whole engine in one hand.
The first picture looks pretty common because at first glance, you only see the larger section.
The second picture is more interesting, because it shows that it is train-shaped storage. The stair-stepping shape is unusual - especially because it's made for a train! It kinda looks like a train!
Then your description is all over the place. Your nominatin is not the train itself, or the park itself. Put the most important things first. What is the gathering place here?
Try something like this:
"Bronte Park has hosted a kiddie train since 1947. When the train is running, meet in front of this green train-shaped building to get a ride! When it's not running, the train backed into the building to protect it from the weather. That's why it's train-shaped! There's not another one like it. Check park hours for when the train will leave its storage - or listen for its whistle!"
Thank you all. And there was me enjoying the stepped shed ;-)
will nominate again once the weather clears and go real real early as it is now getting pretty busy
thank you again!!!!!
These railways usually have a "station platform" and signage somewhere - nominate that.
sogNinjaman-ING Great idea. But not in this case. I know. Weird no signage. but there you go
