Its either they do a bandaid solution (closing nominations) or rebuild from the ground up. Rebuilding might suck for awhile but it would be better long-term.
I think it is just as bad, and I think that the constant correllation of Go players to coal, is super toxic to be clear. Coal has existed before Go, and will continue to exist after Go is gone.
That’s fair enough if you think it’s just as bad. I don’t think we will agree on that.
I did mention there’s always been Coal, and yes there will always be Coal. But I think anyone reviewing a few years back when Pokémon GO first got access saw an increase in garbage nominations.
Maybe someone disagrees, but I saw A LOT when that happened, and have to wonder if the two are linked.
I am sure many of these submitters have since improved (or dropped out of the system) but many others (from both games) have stepped in to submit terrible things in their place.
My review data (which you get when you apply to Niantic) shows a noticeable increase in 1-star reviews since late 2018, when some advanced PGO players started applying through Ingress more often.
This is hardly just an increase in nominees.
And, I might add, the trend of garbage nominees appearing in OPR-era reviews (past accumulated Ingress agent nominations) and current Wayfarer reviews is quite different.
It's too bad we can't see it already, but it reminds me of the spam postings from a large number of PGO players from around the world on the Google+ portal appeal page during the PGO launch in July 2016.
Again, garbage nominations have existed before Pogo, they will continue after Pogo is gone. Garbage nominations aren't something primary to Pogo players, and again, acting like it is, is gatekeeping and toxic.
For the record, in my town, every bit of coal we've ever gotten has been submitted by Ingress players.
I have never encountered such bitterness as a Pokemon Go player as I have when I joined up on this board.
It is why a lot people don't bother reviewing, or doing any Wayfarer beyond submission, because this place is regarded as a cesspool of toxicity and bitterness. People on Twitter, Reddit, point and laugh at this place. Y'all know that right?
For people who are literally doing unpaid labor for a multi-million dollar company for their profit, y'all Ingress players are super bitter towards people who simply like the same style of games. It'd actually be semi-comical if it weren't so damned pathetic.
I find it irritating, that unnecessary negative comments are made about groups of players when it’s not relevant. Too often words loaded with bias and negativity are used in blanket, unproven statements.
This makes this space unfriendly to visit and a scary place to ask for help. I know because it took me several different instances of visiting before I felt robust enough to stay. Who knows how many visit and go as a result of this.
In my experience a lot of poor submissions are done out of ignorance and not wholly malicious.
With experience you can see that the system which should act as a scaffold to support new players to submit appropriate new POI is dreadful, and the apparent lack of any desire to improve and educate compounds it all.
We have no knowledge of the person that might be behind a post. This includes that they may be neurodiverse and may be struggling with difficult to interpret language (compounded by the need to translate) or they may have poor mental health and find the comments particularly hurtful.
We are all human, we all make mistakes.
Stop and consider - is a particular word or comment necessary.
The bitternes of Ingress players relates to their old age. Many of them are 50+ and already found out that life won't end like in movies.
On the other hand there is a realistic view and talk about Niantic. There is absolutely no way to see their business actions in a funny or cool way. Since the launch of Pgo there were tons of things they did wrong, and still up to today they are not able to fix terrible things on OPR/Wayfarer. You have to see it from our view - we are capable and bright, but Niantic isn't handing us the right tools do do our work. To us it seems they don't know a wrench from a screwdriver
Hey there, @Shepeteksht-PGO! The Wayspot in question is live as a Portal in Ingress Prime. Each game has their own set of criteria for this step, so some nominations may be accepted into one game but not another. If an existing game location is removed or the criteria changes, the nomination may appear within Pokémon GO at a later time. We appreciate your understanding!

The fallout of Niantic tinkering with their own database isn't worth thinking about.
I do wonder if they’ll just shut down nominating for a while to do so, and get on top of the queue. They did it before with OPR.

To be fair to @PkmnTrainerJ-ING when I first started using Wayfarer I submitted really awful things like VR, ERVII, ERVIII, GR and GRVI postboxes.
Agreed.

There is no "to be fair", it is toxic.
