Community Center Rules

Hi everyone would love help!

I get so many requests for such and such town center pool clubhouse tennis court kid area etc, but what are those rules?

I tried submitting my clubhouse pool but got rejected for mismatched location or unlikely to exist? I know it can’t be in front of houses but I see tons of dog walk stations and ponds can’t see the difference between why mine don’t fit and theirs thanks!

my community has none but I still see tons of people catching Pokémon on their phones

thanks

Public community centers are fantastic nominations and typically get 5 stars from me.

Neighborhood community centers are also good places to be social and exercise with others, but I don't rate them quite as highly since they typically are only open to residents of a small local community. I generally give them 3 stars instead of 5.

If you are receiving mismatched location or fake nomination rejections, that means that reviewers weren't convinced that your clubhouse exists. This often happens when something has been recently built and doesn't appear on the satellite and Streetview photos that appear to reviewers.

I'd suggest that you visit Google Maps and/or use the Google Street View app to take a look at satellite and Streetview in the area of your submission. If you can't see the clubhouse, then reviewers can't either. To prove that your clubhouse does actually exist at its location, you can use the Street View app to create a Photo Sphere to show the clubhouse to future reviewers and get rid of potential mismatched location rejections.

I may not have explained well. I do not distinguish based on size, but I do rate higher or lower based on public versus private.

Here in the US, it's very common for apartment complexes and housing developments to have clubhouses with exercise facilities, swimming pools, or meeting rooms. They are members only. I give 3* instead of 5* since they are clearly great places to explore, exercise, and be social with others, but for a very limited population instead of for everyone.

I've always assumed that Niantic wants us to notice and adjust for shades of difference like this by using the full range of 1-5 stars when reviewing. Otherwise they would have us using a straight pass/fail system.

The number of people using something should not lead to something scoring less than something else.

The example you give is that you are not giving 5* based on the fact that it is not open to everyone. Niantic have been clear that it doesn’t matter who or how many access something as long as some people can

A village nay have a small population and maybe only 20 people regularly access and use a hall to play badminton. A large company may have a badminton club for its 200 employees. Public v private but both equally good facilities.

There is probably something about the social status of these private complexes in the US that I just don’t get as they frequently appear here in one capacity or another with the exclusivity a key point.

Niantic has made it clear that they don't want you to REJECT based on how many people can access.

They have never said anything should get 5* in every category - not even restricted access places. A gated business with a guard at the front desk and lots of "keep out" signs is not 5* for safe access, even if the art inside it gets 5* on "Should this be a wayspot". Niantic WANTS gradients on the other things, so they can compare different things for different situations / games.

No they don't. They have clarified many times that they want to change the reviewing experience to get rid of the star ratings.

A new review experience that feels lighter and more enjoyable to do (also replacing the confusing star-based questions)

Community Centres should be a suitable nomination and be accepted, no matter what size.

Don't bother with "Community Pools / Condo Pools", these are difficult / impossible to get through, Niantic have said no to these particular nominations - they seem to like the sort of Public Swimming pools which have staff / lifeguards at all times it seems.

@MargariteDVille-ING i’ll agree to disagree with your interpretation of safe pedestrian access.

I am perfectly happy to use the 5 star range to grade something on quality, and it is rare to find something which is 5* across all categories.

Although it is not my interpretation of what safe in the context of the question means, if I was one of the members of staff entering a building with a guard I might feel very safe whilst viewing the art.

Yeah. I'm agreed with @Elijustrying-ING's interpretation that "safe" is what we're intended to be rating, not "access". Since Niantic will never clarify, though, everyone will have their own interpretation.

Yes, streamlining reviewing is one of many things Niantic has promised many times over many years. Three years ago I stopped reviewing for six months because I wanted to come back to the redesign. I was young and foolish to be so trusting.
