This portal was used as field anchor as it was one of the few difficult to reach portals in this area of the
Netherlands. Please reinstate this portal, as it meets the criteria for a cool and one of the few portal gems in the area.

Beautiful location!
It's a true gem!
Please bring it back, this definitely meets the criteria for a beautiful portal!
Looks like a legit portal to me, weird that it got remove.
It's a beautiful piece of water management engineering. One of the waterworks that the Dutch are proud of and known for.
Boats and ships pass trough here and on one side it it has recreational water too.
(Insert selfie at portal image)
I have visited this place a few times and it is one of those stunning places you will encounter while playing ingress.
Obviously this portal was requested to be removed because of the fields that are usually attached to it.
Please restore
Please restore this portal
If every stupid little bridge in every village is considered an acceptable wayspot, then this should definitely count. Please reinstate.
Reinstate this legit portal!
such a shame that this beautiful portal is gone please bring it back thnx in advance
Please restore this portal. I think it's important dutch industrial heritage. A valuable portal.
Please Restore this amazing Portal. It was part of an ENL Field Setup that was scoring MU in the NR02-HOTEL-03 Sector in The Netherlands . Its safely accessible and therefore an very legit portal that was removed for no reason at all.
Please reïnstate. Look at my photo how happy I was to visit 😃. Such beautiful Dutch engineering!
I mean, the number of people who respond saying “please restore” isn’t really going to sway Niantic. But yes, please restore this portal.
Dear Niantic, please restore this portal. It was clearly being removed as it is a strategic portal to ENL NL. Many portals have been removed that were strategic to our OPS. Please also look into why this was removed. Over the past year many have been removed with succes.
This looks legit. I see no reason why this shouldn't be a portal. This portal deserves a reinstatement!
One of the coolest portals in my region. I want it back !
There goes legit portal number...I lost count..... down the drain. It's such a shame that legit portals get removed and shity portals like a route number sign stay in the game. Also the agents who are responsible for all those removals should be ashamed with themselves. They lose the point that this is a game. If it's getting too hard, let's get it removed.
Please restore this portal, since it's a legit portal
Please restore.
On legit ways it is realy possible to get there. It has been a lot of times level 8, so more and more agents have been there playing Ingress.
The Waterstuw isn't Just a nice and beatitifull place.
It is an important part of the watermanagement that makes it possible half of The Netherlands, that is under sea-level, is not overflowed.
Thanks to the Waterstuw Amerongen i and half my country can live here.
Doesn't seem like a portal with a safe pedestrian access to me. From the photo provided I understand it was accessed in a small inflatable boat, not the safest way to reach industrial construction. I think it's a right trend to remove this kind of dangerous portals, hope NIA sticks to this decision 👍️
I think it's a very valid comment: Waterstuw Amerongen is a pivotal part of the country water management, a strategic object, so it is just logical they should not allow their employees to play on the territory and encourage small boats snooping around. Totally understandable and reasonable removal.
Safely accessible via a small dinghy close by to a hydro dam? This doesn't sound very safe to me...
I don't think ever one of the working people there played ingress. It's all ENL biased, offcourse they want their portal back like we wanted ours. But most of the time property owners have a different mind of this.
Took some time to see this thread coming..
The only way to get to the portal is to climb up a fence. Of to reach it by boat.
The first is illegal, the second life dangerous.
Looks like the picture is taken upstream of the dam. So if the motor fails all people drown. And I am not sure the Dutch government likes small boats near big water features. How amazing these are. If the portal is removed by the government to the Netherlands. Appeal isn't even possible. And I could understand because in the past people were climbing the fence. And now small boats near the "stuw"
This is a game people, not a way to lose someone's life.
How beautiful or special the place is. Not a place for a portal.
It looks like a lot of people who use the Niantic VR games don't know what this artwork does. It does not protect the Netherlands against flooding, it ensures that the water to the east of the weir is pushed up and maintained.
The dammed up water is used to generate hydropower. When the water level to the east of the weir becomes too high, the weir will lower, in order to lower the water level. The excess water will flow out to the sea.
This is really a significant and landscape defining object. It belongs in Niantic's network but in a safe place. The weir is an automated process and can therefore change position without supervision, with the result that a suddeb increased water flow is activated. If someone with a small or inflatable vessel is behind the weir, this can lead to drowning. I don't think anyone wants this!
Wayfarer's acceptance criteria is: Must be safe and publicly accessible to pedestrians (indoor or outdoor).
If the GPS location is on the weir, that is not the case!
Perhaps the GPS loctauie should be moved to 51.973334, 5.409726 this is the entrance gate to the lock complex and accessible to everyone.
I work as a contractor for the dutch "Rijkswaterstaat". I like how beautifull everyone says this portal is, but photo's of people on a boat next to this "Waterstuw" still seem to amaze me. As a contractor for Rijkswaterstaat i know you are NOT allowed anywhere near this stuw with a boat without the permission of, and acompanied by Rijkswaterstaat.
Good posting pictures of people in a boat next to the stuw. I know people make these pictures to proof they were actually on location and not spoofing. But the only thinkg these pic's proof is people trespassing a part of the water you aren't allowed to be!
Next to the stuw they build a 'sluis' for boats to pass. The sluis is out of the original portals reach!
Hear hear....or here (c attachment)

I noticed there was no pedestrian access when I biked there
This is a nice portal and safely accessible if you have the means, like many other hard to reach portals. The portal was a key anchor in a field setup maintaining Enl mu in this cell. In the past this portal has been destroyed by means of trespassing and spoofing, and now it has been resorted into the removal of such a portal (by the way not the first time these things have happened). Really sad to see this type of gameplay is apparently accepted and endorsed, removing portals because you can't win in other ways.
I hope NIA will start seeing the reality behind these removal requests for what they are.
