📱 WAYFARER APP UPDATE 📱
On the Wayfarer app (still iOS only) two new options have appeared! One being “+Wayspot” and the other being “Suggest An Edit”.
Neither button seemed to work during our test, but it seems that we may be able to add new Wayspots and suggest edits to any Wayspot (including those only on Lightship) very soon!

Update: I sent a wayspot edit request ~half an hour ago and am yet to recieve a confirmation email, so unsure is it actually works. May have to wait for an accepted/denied email to confirm.

The Wayfarer app has updated and now allows Wayspot Nominations and Edits within the app!
There seems to be no limit to the amount of Wayspots you can submit, or the location of them!
For edits, location edits must be within 400m of the original location. Interestingly, when editing titles can only be 50 characters and descriptions can only be 300 characters long.
You don’t get emails for reports on the app either. I don’t think they’ll send emails so no idea how you’ll track it.
Yeah, I reported a wayspot through the app about a month ago (not viewable in any of the games I play), and am yet to hear anything (confirmation, acception or denial). Does anyone have evidence of the report system actually working?
Also would be interesting to see if submissions appear propperly in the wayfarer dashboard, but I dont have anything to submit atm to test.
I submitted something and it’s not showing on Contributions. Have let my locals know and will see if they review it.
Wait what? Unlimited amount of edits and nominations? So we will also be having unlimites queues in the Wayfarer also?

Here's a novel concept. How about we keep this news to just us, the dedicated few? Let us figure out how it works before we create yet another log jam of nominations. Remember what we did with the daily appeals? And now we're all paying for that.

At this time, the app is only intended for people interested in the Dev use.
It is not set up for review and nomination management at this time, but the idea seems to be to eventually roll all of that into the app.

New Wayspots can be the usual length so I think just something missed.

Can we ask people in U.K. not to start overloading with edits etc just because Niantic have not thought things through.
It surely isn’t meant to flood the system - or is that what the testing is about seeing if the wayfarer can finally implode.
I don’t think there’s any plans to overload with edits. Sadly I don’t have dominion over all UK Wayfarers though.

It is the weekend world domination is on the cards.
I wouldn’t think there are plans but we all suffered from the unholy mess of allowing an appeals floodgate. No one individually planned it but the numbers broke it.
The system in large parts of the U.K. would not need much to tip it over.

That "we keep this news to just us" sounds like
"We're the good ones, so we can (ab)use any flaw in the system before the rest of the people do. If we clog the tubes with our appeals, nominations, edits, or if we find out details about how to control the creation of gyms, etc... that's due to Niantic not checking their system, or to the rest of the world that found out the same flaws that we did but they aren't good people like us."

Well it turns out it is only available to a selected few with access. Hopefully the unlimited edits etc is a typical working as intended bug that will be resolved before proper release.
The only aspect that bothers me is about potential to flood the system. if one or two individuals put a lot in. Seriously it won’t take much.
Typical Niantic fashion really, put out a release with little to no limitations and hope everything goes well over the weekend.... where have I heard that before? Niantic would never release something like that.
Are you not able to install on ios? Is it limited through that method rather than Lightship account?
I submitted something that is currently 250km away from me which had previously been rejected. I still had the title pic and support pic though and wanted to see what the process was.
It seems incredibly short sighted to allow me to do that I'm assuming an unlimited amount of times if I choose.
I don't think most Go players would care enough to go through the hassle of downloading, signing up for a Lightship account fortunately for whoever thought this was a good idea.
*Edit* Apologies for thinking Niantic think about the knock on effects of anything they release.
