Appeal system broken/inadequate

Firstly there are way too many nominations that are "Not Accepted" when they meet all of the acceptance criteria whilst equally as many rejectable nominations get accepted. There are too many people either speed voting or simply incompetent at the wayfarer system. There needs to be more rigorous testing more often.

The Appeal system is BROKEN!

change my mind.

When you you get a rejected nomination you get a an e-mail which says: "Unfortunately, the community has decided not to accept your Wayspot nomination. Please check out the full details in your Contribution Management page."

When you do as instructed you are met with little to no detail...

i.e.  "natural feature and other criteria"

It's only once I have sent the appeal does the appeal e-mail notice tell me details that should have been accessible prior to me sending the appeal: "Rejection reason: Nomination does not meet acceptance criteria, Nomination appears to be a natural feature (waterfall, mountain, lake, etc.) that is not connected to a man-made object, The real-world location of the nomination appears to be on private residential property or farm "

The above should have been included in the original rejection e-mail and available on the rejected nomination on the contribution management page prior to making the appeal.

You cannot edit an appeal or even see what you wrote in the appeal once it is sent. <this needs to change

Because of learning the extra details too late I was unable to give my appeal the justice it deserved or address the "other criteria" period.

Either give ALL the details upfront or make appeals viewable and editable.

And to finish, not one appeal that has been sent has been viewed in over many many months.

It's as if it's "broken/inadequate"

I don't know if it ever worked but it certainly has never worked for me.

p.s. In the appeal additional photos uploaded should be an option to help further give proof or/and details to help people reviewing the appeal make the right decision.

p.s.s. For those curious the latest nomination I appealed was a man made entrance to a man made reserve/sports field (also has a skate park in it) which includes a man made sign and man made vehicle barriers + fence + storm water drain, did not contain anything seasonal. It is council maintained and government owned open 24/7public. But I did not mention the council cared, gov. owned public part in my appeal as I had 1. I had already mentioned it in the nomination details. 2. Had no idea someone or persons had rejected it for "private residential property or farm" it only showed "natural feature and other criteria" that was the last thing I thought they'd reject it for as I put in the details that this was a a public reserve (voters clearly not reading). Are there houses surrounding the park? Absolutely, however the nomination was not for or at a private residences.

Yeah, that's not eligible. It was correctly rejected.

I know your feeling. In my opinion, the picture doesn't really help to identify an interesting POI. I have noticed a lot of people would just accept a landmark or something fancy looking to make it through right away, but not places like your nomination. If the place had more signs and/or elements that could potentially create interest (e.g. fountains, art, better photo composition) could boost the nomination.

Other than that, the community might reject it again.

Just my own opinion. Hope it helps somehow!

P.S. I also don't like the lack of details when the nominations are rejected.

It's a **** of grass next to a ditch. There's absolutely nothing eligible about this.

The problem with the appeals system is that it is clogged up with frivolous appeals like this one.

Sorry, but like others had said, a field like that is just not eligible, on your photos it's difficult to see something that would say it's an entrance to rugby club - sign from your photo don't say anything about it, and nomination need a specific anchor related to it. From your photos, it looks like you nominated a grass field, so appealing it is pointless.

You can just nominate Brennan Field Rugby Field (I'm not sure if it's rugby or a bit different sport, but there is sport field for it - just use rugby goals as main photo), skatepark that is near Brennan Field or Pareora Old Boy Rugby Sport Clubs (there is a sign with it name on one of sport club building, you can also use sport field that belongs to it as an anchor) - just put pin in they correct place and if they're not already a POI, they will be accepted for sure, and you would get 3 different POIs.

As for appeals, I agree that it need some fixes - lack of response why appeal was rejected is bad, the old appeals somtimes still get answer, some do not. And some appeals are rejected at random (I got appeal for main univeristy building with a nice university logo on building rejected for being generic building - it was the only POI for the only univeristy in this city, really generic xD. And I waited for more than half a year to get response for it appeal, sad but true).

I would also change name of "Other rejection" to "Rejected for not being eligible and not met acceptance criteria" or something like that so people will understand more why they nomination was rejected.

So, I agree that system needs some fixes, but your nomination example was rejected correctly as not being eligible (and rejections weren't that much wrong from truth liek you think).

I hope our adviced will help you get some POIs in your area, good luck!
