My appeal from September 5th has not been reviewed, any reason this could be?

Appeals take several months. There was a huge backlog due to a glitch in the system. Be patient and it will be looked at eventually.

My appeal from April was recently reviewed -- it just takes time -- there's a ton of appeals to look at and only so many people doing the work
If I get it right, it takes around 4 to 7 months (on average) to have your Appeal reviewed.
In certain cases, it takes even longer period for the Appeal to be reviewed by Niantic.
