Incorrect Duplication Appeals
In the area I live, we have many trail markers that appear similarly to others. Since they are semi-close together, these often get "duplicated" even when they are not. This is causing additional photos to be added to Wayspots that are completely different than the existing one, which alters the outcomes of certain games. In the current system, the way to fix this is to manually request the removal of a picture, then resubmit the Wayspot. In my area, the Wayspot in question took 11 months to go through the review system and the only reason it was denied was due to "duplication". This has happened to many of these, and it is not just something such as wood pattern that is different, it is text (pictured below for an example):
What do you think of a duplication appeal that is separate from the current Appeals? I think this would be a phenomenal addition. I am grateful for trail marker eligibility in the first place and recognize I'm privileged to even have these, but I have had "duplicates" marked incorrectly for other things as well and it causes problems.

Add more to the current appeal load which is backlogged for months?
I get where you're coming from but I don't see a strong case for duplicates being a special category of appeals.
You can appeal duplicate rulings.
Posting about it here won't make your appeal go faster, and won't get you more appeals. Appeals take 6 months to a year to resolve. You get one appeal every 30 days. You'll know it's time, because the "Appeal" button will be push-able.
Also, probably no one here reviewed your nominations.
However, we're pretty smart, and diverse - and willing to offer helpful suggestions. Please share your descriptions and supporting information. Maybe your wording is unconvincing, so many choose other rejection reasons, but a few chose duplicate, so that's what was returned. If we can spruce up your wording, you might re-nominate and it sails thru. That would probably be faster than appealing.
Yeah, that was my only concern, there is a backlog for appeals already. But what if this was something that regular Wayfarer users could review?? Like once it gets X number of "Duplicate" markings, but is otherwise eligable, it gets sent into another screen (like the picture one maybe? "Are these the same?" with the Title showing.
To be clear - I am not new at this. I am very much aware these can be appealed already. I have succesfully appealed several, but in cases like these it should be pretty obvious that these are not the same things. To review an appeal like this one would be much faster than legitimacy of a borderline Wayspot, IMO.
I don't need help writing descriptions, my Wayspots typically go through without problems aside from wrongful duplications that are obviously different markers. I just live in an area where review time takes 6 months-1 year. So renominating is annoying, but yes, currently the fastest method since I would rather use appeals on other things. Thank you though!
