Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it!
I'd prefer if the AMA would answer more Wayfarer related questions instead of one of the spots being hijacked for a podcast
I have to agree with @kawin240-ING
Whilst it would be a nice thing to happen, Niantic can respond to it in the topic raised in General instead of using up one of the 15 questions.
I did post a jokey question myself but that one won’t get 31 🔼 at all so a bit different.
How about every AMA questions be answered by Tintino and co. in the podcast instead?
If they did that, I would rather that we got an official Niantic podcast every quarter instead of having Niantic folks guest on other stuff.
Yikes.
It wouldn't run on time, the incorrect guests would be invited, 5% of it would be fixing the microphones, 20% of it would be silence and 75% of it would be about what's coming soon in the next podcast.
That’s why I only said every quarter, not every week/month.
Could also rotate so that they have Ingress for Q1, Wayfarer for Q2, Pikmin Bloom for Q3 and Peridot for Q4.
Sorry Pokémon GO players, you might get a Dev Diary. If you’re lucky it may even be a shiny one! ✨
This is the same company that had three months to post a simple page of the new season updates but still put it out with at least 6 glaring errors and gave NZ the incorrect spotlight hour on the same day.
I'll believe them when they do something otherwise it's more blah blah corporate speak.
I’ll take your word for the Pokémon GO stuff, I don’t follow it as closely as that.
While I like your podcast, I am not a big fan of an AMA question being a plug for a podcast.
It's the equivalent of a restaurant putting out their new winter menu and doing a copy paste from the summer menu. Then forgetting to take some things out and putting chicken in the vegan section and saying Christmas is on the 23rd of December.
This isn't Bob's Cafe though it's a big f*cking chain restaurant.
The first and second time it was humorous the 535th time of doing it is sloppy and embarrassing.
Since these are titled Ask me Anything I think it’s fair to ask what is in effect a request to talk to 2 players via a podcast who can also ask some questions.
Given the likely responses to many of the questions……see past AMA, why not have this question? If people are not interested or think it’s right then it won’t get votes.
Before Niantic is guest on a Wayfarer podcast, they should listen to a few past episodes. They should know what they're telling people, the tone, etc.
The first question Niantic should get as guest is: how many episodes did you listen to, and what did we talk about that you didn't know before? Second question: do you have any corrections on things we said?
Why don’t we enlarge the question? Will wayfarer team join any content creators’ show to promote anything about wayfarer? Insight, roadmap, app, lightship features, criteria etc.
The problem with this question is that it is essentially a yes/no question. Just because it gets voted up doesn’t mean it will actually happen. They could just say “no”.
Or...
This is something we have thinking about for a while now. It's important to us to connect to the community in a variety of new ways that bring us both together. We will raise the question at our next internal meeting and look forward to sharing our plans. Trust me we are as super excited about this as you are super excited about this and can't wait to make ourselves even more super excited when we see how even more support excited you are about...whatever... the... question... was...my super excitement has got the better of me and I need to lie down.
Coming Sooooooooon©
With a response like that I didn’t realise you were the new PM, how did you keep it from us all this time?
Sorry, I've been too super excited to tell you.
First rule - Titles *must* contain 50 characters. Description *must* contain 400 characters.
Why is this an AMA question? And how is it getting all these votes? This is why I don't even try to participate in these AMA's - real questions that would help me as a Wayfarer get buried and a solicitation for an interview currently has the most votes.
I’ll just need to update my Christmas card list here a moment.

I'm not a fan of one of the questions being taken up by a podcast appearance request, but seeing how this is the highest upvoted posts on the section currently, it's hard to ignore.
I think it shows a real desire to get more communication from the wayfarer team and actually SEE them more in the community outside of the forum. Official pages with more active involvement in the community could help. Twitter may not be the best place currently and the wayfarer team might want to look into other options.
About this and any other question of the AMA, Will we be able to tell apart the answers provided by a real person vs the answers provided by a bot?
As the product manager of Wayfarer, I would love to talk about the project and hear feedback from our users. However, I am unable to disclose any specific details about the project at this time. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I appreciate the invitation to join your podcast and I am grateful for the interest in our project. Thank you for understanding.
That's straight out of ChatGPT mouth, we should try to get the answers for each of the top questions and then find out who managed to get the answer closest to the one provided by Niantic. At least we'll have something interesting to do with this AMA.
If you listen to the announcement about the guest episode for Christmas, there is something that she says which resonates with me:
I would go on the forums like, at night, when I'm not supposed to be working, like I would go on Twitter at night when I'm not supposed to be working. So that's how I got my information, I'm like, here's the pulse, what's the community saying?
I always hear the phrase within the podcast "Niantic, I know you're listening." Maybe the previous community manager did. What about now? You don't have to be mega-careful about what you say, just talk. As a community manager, immerse yourself in the community, that's kind of your role?
We might get clearer answers from that episode than these computer-generated corporate-funnelled AMAs, but I ain't holdin' my breath. Or better yet, do some more live Wayfarer events. The best outreach is having like a Wayfarer-themed tent during massive GoFests because people will be curious and the majority of people still don't know what Wayfarer even is.
Firstly - Thanks for all the support, I think what this really shows is the community wants more communication from the Wayfarer Team.
To help quell the concerns I have seen from people over here & on discord, in the event we manage to secure a chat/interview a Q&A we would be posting in here/Twitter & discord seeking additional questions, I already have a list 30 long much like most others would.
I would strive to have the Questions & the Answers posted on the forum by either Us or push for the Niantic team to post themselves. - which could lead to a net gain of questions answered resulting from AMA!
This December AMA is amazingly the first one without questions about is X eligible to be a Wayspot - dominating the board, with most people inquiring about what has been promised / what isn’t happening.
Speaking of past promises - Where is the Yes/No/Maybe voting options vs 1 ⭐️- 5 ⭐️
Jamal & I didn’t see this as an advertisement for our weekly chats about something we all love - but as an opportunity to provide Niantic a place to communicate to the community via. - we see this occurring in the other niantic game community’s where community leaders - much like our Ambassadors - get a line of communication with niantic to help broadcast updates & comms to the wider community.
Having had the privilege of meeting NianticTintino in Seattle he is a kind, knowledgeable & friendly human - whom I would love to sit down and have more conversations with.
I would personally like to provide this thread as an opportunity to share any other concerns you may have with this question.
IMHO, that's a very naive point of view.
An AMA means ask me anything, but since Krug's departure they are limiting the number of answers in a totally artificial and restrictive way. They take several days to provide the responses and we know that most of them will be totally useless due to the number of filters that they have to go through.
Why would they agree to go to your show and answer any question that you fire at them instead of replying the questions in this forum at their own pace?
If they want to improve the communication they just have to talk. As I posted in my question, Tintino only posted four times and added for comments for the whole previous month. That's a shame, and a podcast won't fix that.
The recent AMA via the Lightship Discord community by Tory from the Wayfarer team, answered any and all questions.
@LachlanF-ING I think it's a great idea but only if it's done as a live stream :)
If they answer all the questions in other communities, then this is the one that they must answer here:
Ah, but the devs pay the money for the data and the maps.
We are just the volunteers working for no reward so why bother informing us?
I just watched *all* of the video you posted the other day and they said multiple times that they have nourished the Wayfarer community. They also said that the players from Go and Ingress have been central to help build and strengthen Niantic's core values :p
