It won't. The description of how reviews for these K-12 "outdoor" basketball courts was full of, at best, inaccuracies, at worst, outright lies. The problems have been detailed for Niantic multiple times in this forum (where they engage 40-50% of the time), yet they have not acknowledged that there is a problem with the process. In typical Niantic fashion, a corporate mandate was dropped on the players with a half-baked plan for how it might, kinda, someday work. And then it was literally forgotten an hour later, leaving the players to wallow in confusion and frustration. "Working as intended."
So, this seemed like a something new in Wayfarer for a change. Cycled around all nearby schools (9 total) and nominated their basketball courts. Realized that almost all of the local basketball courts are located on the school yards, one of them had actually 2 totally separate ones. 🙂🏀
Nominated them through PoGo so that description had the word ”basketball” in it, and of course tagged them with ”basketball court”. Well, I genuinely waited that Niantic would pull them within a few day as the whole scenario presented here by @NianticTintino-ING seemed kind of fundamentally planned. But no, there they were sitting in the normal queue and and they have been now moving to voting one by one. 🧐
Well, and today:
got accepted. 😳 Nothing in the result indicates that Niantic has intervened in this review. I was pleasantly surprised that local reviewers have picked the new rule so fast. 👍 But well, surely Niantic has now ensured that the wayspot is not synced to other games and is just there sitting in the Lightship data waiting for NBA release but well:
there it is in Ingress and I guess in Pokemon Go has it now too. 🤨😒
All I can say is that I’m amazed how Niantic has managed to do this. You bring up this new rule and how it affects reviewing and how Niantic is going to handle these submissions. But absolutely nothing of this is true. Nominations just go through the normal process and nothing that was explained in the original post really exists. Absolutely nothing that was promised regarding this works.
Is it so that even people working inside a same Wayfarer team at Niantic don’t know what other one is doing? Wayfarer community interface people announced this feature before Wayfarer dev team had even started to implement it. 🤪
(TBH, I was pretty sure all this would happen after following Niantic doings for 6+ years but wanted to give them a chance in my mind once again. The acceptance of that court was the only surprise really. 👻)
Sometimes I just look at the predictions in my comment/rant on Page 2 of this thread (no reply from Niantic), and shake my head - I'm obviously psychic, and missed my calling by not immediately moving to Lily Dale and doing readings professionally.
Please, someone from Niantic - acknowledge that this process is broken, and provide a plan to back out the K-12 exemption.
I knew it, but unfortunately, your method doesn't work correctly.
It would be best if you withdrew everything.
You should tell the NBA AllWorld team that your wishes are unacceptable.
And I have some advice for you.
You and the rest of the Wayfarer team should try to review 100 reviews every day in your work.
And try to nominate one POI daily that you think is good and edit the wayspot.
Then you will understand what we think is the problem, why there are invalid wayspot appeals posted every day, and you will know that abusers are maliciously trying to destroy your database.
At least your CEO takes time out of his busy day to play, nominate, review and scan wayspots, and to talk to us as a player at official events.
I looked around and can't find it on Intel or the Wayfarer app, but I'm not familiar with Finland by any means. Can you verify it was removed? I'm looking around Keravanjoki Primary School and don't see it.
I expected it to get removed from Ingress but surprised it was also removed from the app.
Specially among those that like to go to basketball courts but don't want to phisically play basketball and prefer to look at their phones. Playing a virtual game at home is so boooring, better go and find a court inside a school.
Wayspots are the same as GO apart from a local basketball court, no picture, is also showing and a cafe import probably from Four Square as the image on there of people sitting at a table in the cafe is also the NBA game poi image.
I installed it immediately and looked at the location information, but as far as I can see, the quality of the extracted points as well as the accuracy of the location information, which seems to be imported from the Foursquare database, is terrible.
I assume it's stored in the NBA's location database and not Wayfarer's, but from a location-based gaming perspective, it's not a passing grade.
Just looking at my city while commuting to work, I saw that grocery stores and bus terminals were located in private residences more than 100 meters away from the location, and hospitals themselves were imported, which would be quite controversial if the situation were the same worldwide.
And while these false locations were mentioned in Pikmin Bloom, Pikmin itself did not visualize the location, but again, it exposes the worst part of Foursquare, the inaccuracy of location information.
However, just as boys used to go outside with their friends with their Nintendo Game Boy, this game has reached a certain passable level for a home game that needs to be played outdoors with a smartphone as a device.
It's not like Pikmin Bloom, which is very slow on the latest Android and you don't want to actively activate it.
Did send two basketball nominations and both were rejected. Reason: K-12 school and "Title or Description".
Cannot figure about what was wrong with "Title or Description".
Supplemental Information even did have info about a limited exception.
Cannot nominate again as Waypoints are over 250 km away.
If NIA thinks these are valid Waypoints feel free to add these to NBA All-World game.
Personally I do not have any incentive to use Appeals as I do not play any other NIA game than Ingress and noticed only after submitting these special nominations that these special Waypoints are not even appearing to Ingress.
I am happy to use appeals for these if NIA gives two extra appeals :)
Hey @NianticTintino-ING , are we expected to wait for the next AMA for full clarifications, while leaving 50% forum engagements for responding appeals and closing down Pokemon GO related threads?
I have spent the last two days playing NBA-All World, which was launched in Japan.
It was all virtual outdoor basketball and I felt it was good enough.
There is no need to go to the trouble of twisting the rules to allow a basketball court in a K-12 area as a Wayspot.
If you were approaching a real basketball court that wasn't in a K-12 area,There is no need to operate a smartphone to control the NBA-All World when there is a real basketball court in front of you.
You can shut down your smartphone and actually play basketball.
(And if the basketball court in the K-12 area is right in front of us?
We should stay away from there, for it is a place where children are learning and exercising.)
Should not be done by adults with smartphones storming school basketball courts in droves.
If this happens, children's safety is at risk.
It would also destroy the children's sense of security that school is a safe place for them.
Wow this came up again in discussion this morning. One submitted through Pokemon Go and one through Ingress. both went into community voting within a week of submitting, and have stayed there. Guess they will get the old nomination treatment in another year or so.
He often leaves out discussions he started, you know.
For example, he asked us for a discussion involving rural and remote, but the definitions were so vague that we tried to confirm Niantic's definition of rural and remote, but never heard back.
And I don't know if he discussed this with his ambassadors, but the reality is that places like Africa and Micronesia are ignored by Niantic.
He only hears the opinion requests that he himself wants to hear and then, as usual, he just leaves the discussion unclosed.

The duplicates check map was mentioned to be “pushed for” summer 2022, so any day now for adding categories I’m sure.

Thank you for your experiment.
And this result is self-evident.

This game has now launched in France and is a week away from global launch. Have Niantic rectified the issues with the court nominations now?
It will surely be a big hit in countries that have an interest in Basketball.
Specially among those that like to go to basketball courts but don't want to phisically play basketball and prefer to look at their phones. Playing a virtual game at home is so boooring, better go and find a court inside a school.
By "rectified" you mean, shipped final copy of wayspots database to the allworlsd team, pencils down?
Well, that explains this submission I reviewed last night lol.
What’s wrong with that submission?
Are you asking me?
It looks like this is live in the UK now.
Wayspots are the same as GO apart from a local basketball court, no picture, is also showing and a cafe import probably from Four Square as the image on there of people sitting at a table in the cafe is also the NBA game poi image.
The NBA was released in Japan this morning.

and closing down Pokemon GO related threads?I have better question: will this game pull new wayspots from the database?
All the things I’ve added in Swarm and Foursquare when that was new and shiny have finally come back to haunt me.
Follow x,y,z criteria and apply this set of rules to create a community map that's built on blah blah blah.
Then we'll take all your good stuff and mix it in with a bunch of garbage and some schools.
Thank you for your cooperation $$$$$
The Wayspot I added on the 11th, Jan doesn't show in NBA.
I've seen some that are in Go not appear in NBA and some that appear in Ingress but not Go show in NBA too now.
🙄🙄🙄
Those two and a little cafe are all within about 50 feet of each other.
From a game point of view I guess it's fine. From a Wayfarer point of view it's a bit.... what you said :D

Children's safety should be the first priority for the location-based games that your company makes to grow.
