Wrongfully denied as a duplicate submission
I submitted a pavilion at the park closest to me. The gym there is the basketball court and the stop is the playground. The pavilion was flagged as a duplicate and already existing in game. It does exist in the game. I wish people would actually check on things instead of just clicking away to get through the process. There are very few stops in my area and I keep trying to add more so we have more pokemon spawns and more to do in the area, I've had 3 things wrongfully denied out here. Is anyone else having the bad luck I am or is it just me?

It actually could be a wayspot in Niantic's database but not show up in your game of choice (Pokemon Go). You could try creating an Ingress account and checking the Intel Ingress Map to see if it is a portal in Ingress.
The text prompts in Pokemon Go can be a little confusing because they refer to adding Pokestops, but in reality, you are adding wayspots to Niantic's Lightship database. If the spot you nominate is accepted, it will be evaluated against each of Niantic's game placement rules to determine if it will be added to that game.
Ok, I think I will do that. Thank you for the information.
You do not need an ingress account to see if it exists in the database. When submitting a nomination in Pokémon Go, the map allows you to see other POI in the area, with the limitation of you having to be in that area at the moment. Pokestop icons are in the game. Pins are approved POI that cannot appear due to being in the same cell as an existing Pokestop.
