I actually disagree with you on the no pickup football games. My cousins and friends grew up playing football at school football fields, even as young adults in their 20s and 30s, when the fields were not in use by the schools. We've had massive, legendary games during major school breaks. We were always well mannered and left no damage or trash behind so the schools never cared.
The game has been released in Beta in Australia for a while. Surely someone could explain how close we have to be to the POI to play the game by now. I @LachlanF-ING has it.
Well, I don't expect much takeup of the NBA game in the UK and large parts of Europe. Yes, we have plenty of baketball hoops and half courts on playgrounds all over the place, but they never get used for basketball. Basketball in the UK is a very very minor sport.
In Japan, the number of people who play basketball has increased considerably since the manga "Slam Dunk" became a big hit about 30 years ago, but it is still not a popular sport.
Also, from the glimpsed screenshots, I feel that the game is not meant to be a location-based game, and if anything, AR, another Niantic technology, is the mainstay of the game.
With that in mind, I think it would be more fun for the NBA-AllWorld team to revamp the game system rather than forcing the Wayfarer team to add more Wayspots.
Whatever it looks like I’m guessing location is going to play a key role, so that is not going to change.
ibget the feeling we are going to have to view lightship differently.
Having created one database separate from games, it looks like there will be tags on wayspots that will limit their use, so separate layers/groups within the database.
Eg outside Basketball courts on school property
Mass imports have been blocked from ingress
Some of the wayspots approved via submission in the app appeared in both, one or none of Ingress or Go.
I think it’s important to understand what is going on - but that would require communication from Niantic 🤣🤣🤣
We need to able to access a database which is clear about what is there.
Very few wayfinders will be driven to just add to the database with no expectation of seeing it in a game.
The overwhelming majority are playing games and want to contribute to those games - a big psychological driver.
If you make it look unpredictable then frustration and disenchantment sets in very quickly.
This will lead to people walking away and the wayfarer project becomes unsustainable.
@Elijustrying-ING We are looooooooong past the point of frustration and disenchantment. I know so many people who have already walked away, from Wayfarer, but also from Niantic in general.
Those of us left are in an abusive relationship and just won't admit it. They keep making hollow promises that they will "do better." Abusers never do. They will keep taking advantage of us, serving their own needs while ignoring ours and saying "it's difficult" to do the reasonable things we ask for.

I presume the inclusion of outdoor basketball courts at schools is because money talks 🤔
PS I only use the F word 😂

No, it WON'T appear in your Pokemon GO. Except you know that it's Niantic who are likely not to get things work correctly just like that poor Zorua...

I too am concerned about that.

Which future awaits us in 2023 🤔

I could only agree @SeaprincessHNB-PGO
