Niantic recently imported a load of basketball courts from Courts of the World. These wayspots have low quality titles, no descriptions, no pictures, and they also don't show up in Ingress (I notice you're an agent). So maybe it already exists, but not enough people marked it as a duplicate during the review process?
Feel free to post screenshots of your nomination, and also coordinates.
if you look on the wayfarer app you can see that Niantic has imported a stop. There is no photo and the title says the name of the park, but I’m almost certain this is information from Courts of world into the Lightship database ready for use in the new basketball game it will be launching soon.
These have not been loaded into Ingress hence it doesn’t show on IITC. The position also appears to be in an occupied level 17 cell therefore not in PoGo.
When reviewing the wayfarers will see this spot.
Your submission looks like it has recently been refurbished possibly moved slightly as it appears square not round now, but isn’t showing on Google. The old half court doesn’t show well and you can just see the hoop. I don’t know where your submission was pinned presumably close to the imported court but perhaps a slightly different location reflecting the refurb.
So I suspect reviewers were confused. Some may have marked as a duplicate, others may just have rejected.
Its a mess.
This is the type of better submission I think Niantic wants 🤔 instead of the poor quality import🙄
Ideally your submission with its up to date photo and location should be in Lightship.
You could appeal or maybe if @NianticLC is tagged they might be able to look into it.
There's a bug, where if some percent of reviewers call something a duplicate, but not quite enough to reject it with duplicate reason... while other reviewers reject it, but not quite enough to reject it (not counting the duplicate votes)... but rejected + duplicate IS enough to reject it... Niantic sends rejection reason of one of the voting categories, like "Not Visually Unique" or "Not Historically or culturally significant".
this is the one that i do not like, the community only seeing on google street, not the real location that's already has a new building or new sign. made me kind lazy to contribute more.
Please show the solution if in this kind situation.
I had an athletic field in a clearly described and mapped Public Park and meeting the criteria rejected by the "community reviewers" as a "private residence" ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Responses akin to the one you received i.e "please post your rejection in the Community Discussion groups so we can see what YOU did wrong" assumes the Community Reviewers never make a mistake. I absolutely know the difference between a PUBLIC PARK Amenity and a "PRIVATE RESIDENCE" which my submission CLEARLY DESCRIBED WITH IMAGES AND MAPPING. My question is: Why isn't their an actual appeal process for these rejections of this sort through Niantic staff and not the same community reviewers that rejected it? Posting in the community does nothing!
I'm finding more and more this place assumes "community reviewers" NEVER make a mistake and it's ALWAYS the contributor!
Bear in mind that Niantic is very poor at communicating, so never take what they say verbatim.
The community here are willing to try and unpick what might have happened. We just try to figure out why something has gone wrong.
People who review are also contributors in other words, the same people. Try as I might some of my submissions have flaws and no one has a review rate where everything they vote on is in line with what was decided. No one is perfect.
The appeals process goes to Niantic staff and they can either endorse the original decision or overturn it. If you haven’t done so appeal.
if you want someone to look at the submission post it. There may be a something causing a problem ( not necessarily something you wrote) that you haven’t seen because you know the location too well.

I think this is what happening.
This is what you see on IITC - in other words this is what is in Ingress
No sign of any basketball nomination

This is really bad news.
It was rejected for "not historically or culturally significant", not for being a duplicate of CotW imported Wayspots.
Why would some reviewers still give 1* on these criteria? I thought they're obsolete now?

@patsufredo-PGO I thought I had mentioned the bug 🤦♀️
@MargariteDVille-ING has explained it.

If an appeal doesn’t work, submit again.
Not really but there are plenty of people who can maybe help you improve it and have it accepted or agree that you were hard done by.
Your choice though.
