Is there a way to report the empty images you sometimes see on the map while checking for doubles?
These nominations are hours away so I'm not going to drive across the country to scan and report hem.
Can we report them somewhere/somehow?

Those are typically ones added by Niantic import rather than user-submitted wayspots.
But is there a way to report them so they can fix it? I see more and more of them lately.
all you can go to the stop and submit a picture. its probably a basketball court. they won't be able to do anything with a report since they obtained a database of locations, but don't have pictures they can add.
How can you fix something that isn't broken?
Last comment was auto moderated for some reason.
The way to fix it is adding a new photo. Removing the wayspot would be wrong.
Why would it be broken and need fixed if Nia added it themselves?
It is fine that there is not a picture on the wayspot. Hopefully, someone will eventually submit a photo for it.
It's "broken" because Niantic's import didn't include photos for the wayspots. Most PoGo players are encountering this behavior for the first time but Ingress started out with a lot of wayspots that didn't have images, and we added them over time.
What are you concerned about reporting? Simply the fact that there is no photo? As has been described, the hope is that the local community will add photos to help improve the Wayspot. If you feel the Wayspot meets removal criteria (such as being in k-12 school grounds, single family private residential property, removed, etc) you can report it to the Help chat on Wayfarer.
Not totally correct. Ingress started with a lot of pictures from Panoramio, a company Google acquired back in the days. When Panoramio was shut down by Google those images disappeared on Ingress, too. So in many cases where you get those blank images it's an old school Ingress portal.

@jizza-ING I have a Founders badge, though I only squeaked into that by a couple of days.
In addition to Panoramio we also started out with post offices and fire stations and HMDB entries that didn't have images. My language of "a lot of wayspots that didn't have images" may have been ambiguous, but I think it's correct that many of the originals didn't.
ok good to know. This seems to be an US-thing while in Europe those blanks in many cases are Panoramio-pics with no other user submitted pic.
Not from wayfarer, but you should try contacting some local to add image instead of removing it if that place actually exists.
If a new nomination is marked a duplicate of a wayspot with no picture - the new picture will be added to the existing wayspot.
Before PoGo allowed trainers to add pictures, sometimes people would make a new nomination of an existing thing, counting on it to be marked duplicate, so their better picture would be added.
