What's the best way to update a waystop as a whole?

There was a graffiti in my neighbourhood that is a waystop, but the graffiti was replaced by a new one. So now the old one don't exists anymore, what's the best way to update title/photo/description for this waystop?

According to Niantic, you should request to remove the existing wayspot because it no longer exists and then nominate the new one.

While the selected answer is generally true, in a lot of cases where a mural has been replaced with a new mural they will refuse to remove the wayspot and you must instead endure the lengthy edit process.
Which would people prefer to see though?
The mural removed or updated with all the previous murals in the gallery?
I think I'd personally prefer removal and resubmission, but that's only because the current process of piecemeal editing produces such confusing results, i.e. murals with outdated main photos (due to years-old photo upvotes) and edits for names and descriptions that languish for years in voting (partly due to the aforementioned outdated photos).
I would prefer to see previous murals in the gallery.
Me too. I think it makes wayspots much more interesting, to see a history of what has been there.
To be clear, I certainly don't dismiss the value of having older images to have a "history." But it's quite frustrating when I submit updated photos that never become the primary image because the 9-year-old photo has 3 upvotes and no one cares enough to vote on images any more.
Ditto, I have an area that I've added a few too where a collective group of artists add new murals every month or so. It would have been nice to catalogue them all.
It would be nice if there were a quicker and more efficient way to add images :(
I don’t see the value in removal.
You first have to have it removed
Make a fresh submission
wait

2 years 4 months later Niantic approves as it’s reached the top of backlog.
Meantime 5 other wayfarers have submitted the spot as it is interesting and can’t understand why it’s not already a spot. Adding to the backlog.
a month later there is a change someone asks for removal……
