Nominations

I dont understand why when Making Waystop nominations through a certain app the nomination doesn’t appear in it but does in other Niantic Wayfarer apps

EX: I’ve uploaded nominations through Pokémon go and they’ve been accepted but they don’t appear in the game but they have in other games

Is there a way to make sure it uploads in Pokémon go or is it randomized?

    Hello and Welcome @Alexismm2006-PGO

This is a frequent question, you are not alone in feeling confused…

    Explanation….

Although the impression you are given when you submit something is that you are submitting to be a pokestop the reality is that you are submitting something with the potential to be a pokestop.

Once your nomination is approved, it is a wayspot in the Lightship database - this holds all approved wayspots and is separate from all Niantic games.

That is the end point of wayfarer, and what happens next is not related to wayfarer.

Each game sets its own rules as to what it will take from the database to use in that particular game.

For Pokémon Go the rules revolve around the use of some mapping software commonly referred to as S2 cells.

Google: S2 cells and Pokémon Go - Pokémongohub  has a very good explanation.

The key is that in PoGo it only accepts 1 wayspot in each Level 17 cell, so if there is already a pokestop or gym in the game in that cell, yours will not be selected to enter Pokémon Go.

This is probably what has happened in your case. If you post one of the points exact location and name we can check.

It is disappointing and frustrating when this happens. So you need to do the research and read the information about the cells so you are aware for the future when planning nominations.

As a follow up to a pretty good explanation.

Placing a pin when making a nomination needs to be accurate. Making existing POIs Less Accurate or Choosing an innacurate just to manipulate game boards is generally exploitative and can be held against your nomination by reviewers that notice.

However, on larger POIs like say Baseball Field or Playground Equipment where there are multiple Accurate places to place a pin... knowing the game rules + your game's game board can make the difference between a POI making it from lightship to your game.

As a side note, this is also why people shouldnt move the pins during reviewing UNLESS they are inaccurate because you could mess up game board rules and ties should go to the submitter.

(Before downvoting, I am saying when the pin is accurate but just different than where you would have place. Like if the submitter put it off either end of a basketball court, and you think it should be off center court)
