Resting place of a beach on a hiking trail rejected

I nominated the platform of a beach at one end of a family hiking trail. It has a bench, a small table and some chairs for people to rest and gather. There are clear signs leading to it. It is unique (the only beach of the hiking trail), of cultural importance (a resting place of a hiking trail), and easily accessible. It is a great place to explore. BUT it was rejected. I can think of no reason other than it is not near someone's home (lol)!

These can be hard sells - a similar type took me 4 attempts.

can you provide the full submission.

is photo 2 the main photo? It is better than 1.

A beach is a natural feature but putting the emphasis on it being a picnic area might work better

I should have asked for the text to be cut and paste so I could translate but perhaps sone else can help out.

Personally I like the photo with those angled benches and the view (and what a view to have a rest at).

However I think for getting the wayspot accepted you need something that has more focus on the benches and in particular the fixed table.

Is there anything in supplementary photo that helps locate this spot? As it stands it doesn’t seem to be adding much to help the reviewer. Is that an information board does it describe this spot it might be worth using that. There also seems to be direction sign. Perhaps a photo from the steps would set the overall context better.

I think that thinking around the 2 photos you can submit more could help them sell the wayspot.

Describe/title as trail name, rest and view point. Include something about the trail and something about being an ideal place rest and refresh and maybe cool your feet in water. And something about the view across Stanley Bay.

The supplementary info should emphasise that this is a good point to be social along with exercise on the trail. Is there a website with the trail that has this marked on it? It also acts as an anchor for the view. I can just about make this out on satellite view but you might have to describe to reviewers how they spot it.

i would vote to accept this as it looks great

I would name it or describe it as a scenic overlook for the lake. And, show the bench and the table together.

It looks like a great spot @JellyishFedora-PGO

I can't read your text unfortunately but just having a quick look around the whole area looks 5* for exploring.

Did you highlight the whole park in support and how your submission is part of that and would add to discovering the area?

This definitely looks eligible to me, but I think your reviewers don’t fully understand what they are seeing, because the nomination, as it reads to me, is both missing information and cluttered with it.

I can’t really review your text accurately, but if the nomination describes the location relative to the hiking trail the way the title of this thread does, take that out for resubmission. The hiking trail is not relevant to this structure at a beach, and only confuses the message of eligibility. A permanent gathering spot at a beach already meets eligibility; trail talk will cause confusion where there should be clarity.

The next is another issue of language, because I think you need one word to sum up what this location is. In English I might say “boardwalk” or “patio”, rather than “platform” (but again that is a translation issue so it might not be the most actionable feedback), because I think those words speak to the explore and socialization criteria better. But whatever you choose, try to have a strong, single word that nails down eligibility to your reviewer.

The last thing I would address is the supporting image. I think you need to stand on the beach and get a wide image of the whole thing, from the staircase on the left to the table on the right, so your reviewers can really see the context of what this is and understand at a glance why someone would go there. The current supporting image, to my eye, actually gives less information about the surroundings than the main one does, which makes it very unproductive.

Good luck and don’t give up.

  • The translation of the nomination:

Title - Sea Breeze Patio ( the official name of the place)

Description - a quiet lookout to the sea, the best place to enjoy sea breeze

Supplemental - This is a small serene platform for people to enjoy sea breeze and to listen to waves. It is located in Ma Hang Stanley Park.

@Elijustrying-ING your crop is more focused, thank you. I'll edit my re-submission.

    Thanks for the translation.

All your wording focuses on “breeze” which is nebulous, accurate for such a nice spot but it’s not engaging with the criteria.

You need to focus on drawing out the social aspect.

Start the description with something like Offering a mix of seating and tables a place enjoy a well earned break with friends, with a lovely view and cooling sea breeze.

start supplementary with a great place to socialise and explore.

others may have more suggestions as there could be several approaches
