Yes, I'm curious again!
As I undestand, nominations/contributions marked with the Niantic logo is reviewed by 1 Niantic employee.
How about a "normal" nomination/contribution? How many wayfarers actually review it befor a decission is made on wheather to reject or accept it?
Does anyone know?

Niantic intentionally hide this information from us. All we know is that it can vary between nominations.
As @HankWolfman-PGO has said, we don't know. Niantic has said that the number varies based on multiple factors, including the reviewer-rating of the individual reviewers. A reviewer who is in great status has more voting power than one in poor, for example, but Niantic doesn't reveal details. It's entirely possible that Niantic changes the algorithm from time to time as well.
A lot of people have tried to reverse engineer this over time and they've come up with a variety of guesses. My personal best guess based on these efforts and other factors is that "dozens" is probably a pretty good answer.
I figured at least three reviewers, since when I clicked on my contribution I got three different reasons for rejection. The reason changed everytime I looked at it.
Oh, it is a lot more than 3. probably closer to 50 but if we ever knew for certain then it would be much easier for people to abuse it.
This exact number cannot be disclosed at this time, however we can say that this depends on the performance of each individual Wayfinder. Thanks,

I guess some groups of abusers already know how many reviewers are necessary to accept one nomination. For example the one thread about Wayspots in the Antarctica (https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/22728/fake-poi-at-antarctica). No one is even close to live there. But apparently some Wayspots get accepted there, for some reason. Cases like this make me believe the number of reviewers needed for one nomination to be accepted can't be that high
I bet those are reviewed by Mr. Niantic himself 😉
@dustinyeeaah-PGO FWIW, there are legit players in Antarctica, and I had my bonus location there for a year so that I could help clear some of the backlog. A friend of mine works down there every year and recently gifted me this coin. He has also made a fair bit of effort to undo some of the abuse down there.
Wow that's dope! How long does it take to get Wayspots accepted in such an area with probably low amounts of reviewers??
@dustinyeeaah-PGO I don't know, but I think he persuaded a bunch of friends to move their bonus locations for a while.
My theory is remote places sometimes get sent to near by larger populations. Possibly without upgrades. I get way too many Guam nominations for them to be all upgrades, but I could be wrong.
Isn't Guam kinda part of the US? I wonder how subs in those parts of the world goes. Like French Guiana, do French people review those too? There is also a bunch of weird enxclaves in the world.
I've always thought they attach Guam and Puerto Rico onto the continental United States.
That's been my thought too. So I would think they put Antarctica with somewhere... Maybe Australia?
Reviewers in the United States will see Guam, Saipan, US Vırgın Islands, and Puerto Rico. Upgrades in particular will get thrown to the rest of the country and so will some through other prioritized means.
This is because all of those areas are part of the U.S.
US reviewers do see some boarder areas into Mexico and Canada due to how the cells assign country. Australia is not close for them to get Antarctica.
i've just been to Canary Islands that are part of Spain but they are on the west coast of Africa close to Morocco. I got loads of mainland Spain nominations to review but nothing from Morocco. So it seems to be attached to the mainland.

I get to review nominations that are +1000 kilometers away from my home adress.

I think the answer is that it's by proximity for normal reviews but by country for upgraded reviews. Thus, outlying territories sometimes show up even though they're far away from reviewers.

This more or less fits my speculation, but of course it's part of the super secret inner workings.
Also, I would replace "upgraded reviews" with "prioritized reviews such as upgrades and other nominations Niantic decides to push," or something like that. Doesn't quite have a nice ring to it. But I have been able to confirm with friends across country that have reviewed my own nominations that I had NOT upgraded and situations I have seen there nominations not upgraded with no overlap of review area other than all being in the continental US.
Yes I like to think of it as the standard reviews in a fixed localised area, and that reviews can break out of this area to be prioritised in appearing to a more extend countrywide area to help resolve them quickly.
The physical area isn’t large in the U.K. but it’s the reason I will get some from far north of Scotland as a rural (Niantic prioritising) or SE London (upgrade)
Living in France, I often have to review contributions from other French speaking territories (New Caledonia for instance, 17 000km away from were I live)
There was a previous discussion on Twitter about a Japanese man who went to Antarctica. Someone had done a review in Antarctica using Bonus Locations. Showa Staion is a PokéStop.

@AgentMAenlight-ING Scroll up. Not only did I have Antarctica as a bonus location but I know someone who goes down there every year to work, and he's not the only person who plays Niantic games down there.
Living in north of Spain, I have reviewed a ton of wayspots from Gibraltar and south of France, so it seems to be something related to proximity
Yeah that cells system. I was curious if something else could also be in place to help the territories and remote islands.

Yeah they started adding numbers because people who reported “abuse” were getting upset that they thought enough people weren’t getting punishments.
The numbers vary. I've seen them say we have taken action against 85 reviewers
