"Other rejection criteria", nervous about appealing because I don't know what I did wrong

Hi all, here's the content of my nomination.

Shayona Restaurant & Grocery Store

Description

Shayona is closely linked to the nearby Swaminarayan Mandir. The grocery store serves the local Indian community and the authentic Hindu Sattvic restaurant is a favourite with both local residents and those who have travelled to visit the Mandir.

Supplemental information for reviewers:

This combination grocery store and restaurant is highly regarded in the area by locals and travellers alike. The venue is open late, and there's pedestrian access via Pramukh Swami road.

I don't see *how* this couldn't be eligible if I'm honest - it's a beloved community spot that's perfect for socializing and exploring, it's culturally relevant. It's got pedestrian access, it isn't 18+ in any way, it's not generic or a national chain or anything like that.

I want to appeal, but I'm a little nervous about it given I'm not actually sure what's wrong with it. Could anyone advise on anything that might be missing? Thank you!

    Hi @Helenarth-PGO

Appealing won't do harm unless you want to use it on something else.

It's hard to tell without pictures for context but think of everything as eligible but not necessarily acceptable. I'm sure yourself and anyone locally knows what a great place it is but to get to acceptable you have to prove that to reviewers.

Awards help, links to anything about the place that you think would bolster it's chances help to. Something about it's history, does it do anything else for the local community etc

I think this nomination in its current form will be rejected by Niantic as generic. Getting a business accepted often requires telling a compelling story about it, giving reviewers a reason to want to go there, stating what’s exceptional about it. Find local awards it has won, or mentions in food blogs, or examples of community involvement, or a famous incident that happened there. Lots of nominators say this restaurant or that one is popular or important to the community or unique… prove it.

    Is this the correct place?

there seem to be some good reviews.

i would focus on the restaurant, linking it to a grocery store creates a confused submission - grocery store sounds very ordinary whereas the restaurant sounds interesting and is definitely a place to be social.

An appeal will take on excess of 6 months. These are the sort of points to address in the appeal.

You may be better to rethink the approach and text and resubmit.

Thats the place! You're right, I hadn't thought of that. It's basically a grocery store attached to a restaurant - half and half. But the restaurant is definitely more notable. Thanks for letting me know the appeal takes that long.

@The26thDoctor-PGO @X0bai-PGO thanks both for your guidance!
