Can I get insight into why this would be rejected

I had this rejected for lacking cultural significance. I thought it was commonplace for outdoor activity places like dog parks to be accepted.

If you get that reason, it often means there's something similar nearby that some reviewers marked your nomination as a duplicate of, but not enough did so in order to trigger the actual duplicate message.
Having looked on the Wayfarer app, and only having your picture to go on, I would guess that the reviewers marking it as a duplicate were marking it as a duplicate of this wayspot:
I might be wrong though.
It was rejected for "not having cultural significance" though. If it's a duplicate then his photo was already added to that Wayspot.
You've been on the forum long enough to know that "not historic or culturally significant" is not meant to appear as a rejection reason and tends to pop up most when there's a similar nomination nearby. I split my post into two parts because I didn't want to edit the first one and then have to wait for the mods to approve it haha
@HankWolfman-PGO interesting there is nothing similar in the area
@JarredM17-PGO There actaully is. In the park, there is another sign alread as a wayspot, so you can't get the entrance sign accepted too as that function is already taken away to say it simple

You're probably looking in PGO. That's not the only place where POI exist. Not all POI show up in all games. One of the easiest ways (though not foolproof anymore) for you to see all POI is to create an account for Ingress and look at what shows up in that game. You don't have to be anything higher than level 1 (or play the game at all) to see the POI.
The real database that holds everything is Lightship. But that can only be viewed through the Wayfarer app which they don't want us players using (for now). So a combination of Ingress and PGO are your best bet.
