Could we get some recognition?

We do free labor and yeah we get our pokestops, portals, flowers(?)... But sometimes, like now, I feel like giving up or taking a loooong break. I think a lot of us do, we don't have that many people doing reviews to maintain a good flow, submitions stay in queue for years and will take longer if stays this way.
So why can't we get in game rewards? They don't even need to be in coins, dust or xp (I'm not sure what is the equivalent in ingress). A medal for creating waypots, clothes and maybe a pose in Pokémon GO would help and raise awareness to wayfarer.
I know this was asked many times but they never do anything.
The equivalent in Ingress would be CMU, (no dust equivalent) and AP.
I think they just need to change it so you can exchange your “Upgrade” for something else. Whether it’s game related or an extra Upgrade/extra Nominations. Reviewing is just not super appealing right now.
For the past 4 or 5 months I have slowing down a lot. I got the parks that I wanted and pokestops close to home. So I haven't been feeling motived unless I see something really cool and need to get it upgraded.
Sometimes I only come here if something is eligible now.
I recall it was brought up as something they were looking at. Maybe by Giffard or Casey?
When I first started submitting/reviewing it seemed like a cyclical process. Niantic have left the system to degrade to a point where it only seems like a slog along a one way street unfortunately.
At this point most Go players, at least if they were interested in adding poi, have probably had most of their local ones added and don't have enough interest in Wayfarer to do more. It would have to be something great to interest even the few who have added poi.
You call it a slog along a one-way street. I would compare it to salmon running upstream, sometimes up waterfalls, to get to their spawning grounds. It's a long, arduous path and we're battling so many elements out of our control to get there - bad reviewers, bad submitters, and sometimes even Niantic's own inertia. No wonder so many of our fellow salmon get tired and drop out.
It should be at the beginning of their new video which nobody got to see.
Both Ingress and Pokemon Go have badges for reviewing, although the top tier of the PoGo badge is a lot lower than for Ingress. (1500 agreements, IIRC, vs. 10K for Ingress. Even the Ingress platinum tier is 2500.)
Rename upgrades to something like Wayfarer Credits and let people in good/great standing with more than X agreements (a couple thousand, at least?) use credits for upgrades, changing the bonus location, ten additional submissions (one-time addition, not a permanent increase), an extra appeal.
I would love love love to be able to use an upgrade to change my bonus location, maybe limited to once every 2-3 months. That would allow me to use my bonus location to drop in on an underserved area, help clear out the backlog, and then let me move somewhere else when the area had been sufficiently bootstrapped. I'm sitting on 77 of them right now so earning an upgrade provides zero motivation for me. (I review a lot anyway because I enjoy it.)
