I just had a trail marker rejected.
Apparently its not visually unique and the photo contains a licence plate.
Well yes, it looks like other trail markers for this particular trail - that is sort of the point.
And please point out the car on this foot path, because I never saw it.

You could take the picture so as not to show the slightly bent marker.
You shouldn't have to though. Either there are a large amount of reviewers who enjoy the self satisfaction of rejection and removal or they are waaaaay behind on the criteria, like 3 years behind.

Appeal or submit again is the only option unfortunately.
At one point @NianticAaron @NianticLC @NianticTintino-ING were overturning bad decisions from forum posts. It was short lived though and I haven't seen them do it for a while
I think I'll have to go with the "submit again" option - I'm not a big believer in the appeals system.
Funny, the nomination wasn't in voting for more than a few days. It usually takes longer.
Well, at least I got a (standard) response although my trail marker is still a reject...

I’m not a big advocate of trail markers, but even I would have voted to approve this one. It’s actually a really nice image and a well done nomination overall.
Sometimes you just get a bad set of reviewers. I’d resubmit with exactly the same everything.

You might have made your nomination worse than it was with your supporting infromation, because "directional sign" would be a different type of sign in English that would be seen as ineligible! It's probably not causing the rejection but you never know with some of the crazy people out there, I'd try to avoid that word
Hello - could I ask what process was followed to get this response?
I've had some utterly nonsensical rejections including live animal and face in photo when there is nothin of the sort. I wasn't aware we could take such action as to flag poor reviewing if that's the case?
When you login to Wayfarer, find and click "help" in the menu. There should be a small chat buble popping up in the right lower corner. There's a "report abuse" option along with more options.
But be patient (it took about 15 hours to get a "human" reply)
You get 3 rejection reasons, but the Contributions page only shows a random 2. Hit refresh until you find out the third one. If it's "Other Rejection Criteria" - that means reviewers said it doesn't meet any acceptance criteria: explore, socialize, exercise. Check this page: https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/criteria/eligibility If you think it is eligible, include wording from that page about why it's eligible.

To be honest, at this point i think trail markers beeing valid wayspots is just a myth.
I had 11 Trailmarkers in Niantic voting (i'm guilty of using the "sponsored" cheat when it was still around) and exactly zero of them have been accepted.
None of those things have ever been accepted for me, and i never saw a Trailmarker beeing a wayspot in the game unless it was a very pretty sign and/or it had multiple locations of interest on them.
I've had lots accepted and see lots of others.
How did your submissions look?
It's not unusual for Niantic reviewers to get appeals incorrect.

I think it was just named Footpath, hopefully it will still go through for them and someone can add the trail name, trail description if they feel like it.

I'm fine with that being added. It's just interesting how easily a definite accept can go to a probable reject without 5 minutes of thought going into it.

BTW, I did get a second answer from Niantic help when I asked if they could reverse or remove the rejection (so the nomination could be reviewed again.
And guess what they said!

They won't overturn decisions over help chat. If you report something in help chat you have to make clear to them that you don't want a re-decision
Not sure that the help chat is helpfull in any way.
All I got after getting past the help bot was standard answers (I recognised the exact wording on both "human" answers).
+ I already knew of the "solutions" suggested by Niantic from the community...
And thet didn't really answer my question anyway.
