Why was this marked as duplicate?
I’m just a little confused as to why this was rejected as a duplicate. Could it be because someone else also submitted it so my submission ended up being marked as duplicate? There’s currently no stop over this playground. The other stops we have on this park are the sign for the park name, and the water fountain on the opposite end from the playground. I can’t for the life of me figure out why. TIA

Without actually being able to see the location, no one here can really help you as we can't actually check the area to see which wayspot your photo was added to.
I understand not wanting to doxx oneself, but if you're asking for help on why a nomination was marked as a duplicate, the only real way we can help is if we know where to check first.
OK, so I was able to locate the area and check it using the Wayfarer app. The play area already exists in the database (I've covered the location names seeing how as you were worried about showing them).
When you make a submission, you're actually nominating a wayspot for the Niantic Lightship database, and not a Pokéstop or Gym for Pokémon Go.
Each of Niantic's games has its own proximity rule that determines what can be synced from the database to the game, and as a result, certain wayspots cannot appear in certain games.
In the case of Pokémon Go, under normal circumstances you're limited to one Pokéstop or Gym per level 17 S2 cell. Pokémon Go Hub has a guide about the cell system if you want to Google it for more info. As you can see on my screenshot though, you have 5 wayspots in fairly close proximity to each other, and having looked at the cells, I believe all 5 of them are in the same level 17 S2 cell. So if any of these other wayspots show up in Pokémon Go, they'll be blocking the play area from appearing:
Las Zanjas, Las Zanjas Key, Play Train, Water Artwork.
When you submit a new wayspot in Pokémon Go, the first screen you'll see will ask you to place the pin for your nomination, like this:
Within around 100 metres of your physical location (that's important, it doesn't update if you scroll the map), this map will display icons around you that can be tapped on to view what they are. Anything that is in Pokémon Go will show the blue Pokéstop icon you can see on my screenshot, whereas anything that isn't used in Pokémon Go will show as an orange Wayfarer icon.
Thank you for the detailed explanation! I don’t really submit spot or post here that often so I didn’t realize how complicated it is or what needed for people to help. It just seems wild that I’ve seen places where the stops are so stacked on top of each other I can barely click on them. And we barely had 2 stops over the entire park but no new stop can be posted. But if that’s how the system work then what can I do lol, thanks again!
