First impressions on the first nomination you've reviewed during the challenge?

Go tell your first impressions upon reviewing your first Indonesian nomination here. I'm all curious about non-native reviewers' thoughts at Indonesian nominations.
It was a mosque. Perfectly eligible, easy enough to vote to accept, and Google seemed to do a good job of translating the description and supporting info :)
I got a mosque too. Only thing as far as I can see is that it looks like a house. But on the street view the door had a place for many many shoes, so thought it was truthful.
I don't get why everyone is begging for stars in supporting info and sometimes even in the description, ruining their nomination. Sometimes there's a chain of coal coming in, e.g. a group of kids posing in front of a subdivision sign, and a few mosques that were real, but submitter with 3rd party photos (reverse image search is a good tool).
Otherwise, it seems fine. Got a lot of mosques and the occasional monument.
I started out with South Jakarta this time.
How do you use google translate in wayfarer? Or do you just copy and paste?
I will not participate in this challenge. Upgrades are useless when one has excess of over 100 upgrades to use.
However, I will put out a call. The first person to tag me on Twitter (@haramdingo) or these forums with the one nomination that I submitted somewhere in Indonesia will result me in choosing my bonus location (either their own area or wherever they want) a few days before the challenge ends.
Copy-paste most of the time. There was a plugin for browsers to allow anyone translate the descriptions in Wayfarer without having them switch between tabs, but it doesn't work anymore.
It was a soccer field, West of Semarang. Good pictures, proper text. Street View was outdated, but location could be inferred by satellite view. It was a surprise, since I would have expected a temple or mosque.
Went to know Indonesia three months ago. A little chaotic (as SE Asia usually looks to us europeans) but definitely beautiful, I’ll probably go back. 😉
Check out the wayfarer.tools website, it has plugins you can install to get a one click button to translate stuff. Those can also be installed on phones but require a bit of setup
My first one was a Mosque.
Sadly it was a duplicate, because it already existed as "mosque construction site" where it was visible that it was exactly this mosque that was built there.
Seems some nominations have been stuck there for a while ^^
I come across proposals of very poor quality... Signed as "mosque" but do not look like a temple. Some river, some swimming pool... Skewed photos. Not good for Jakarta.
Last night I got 3 in 40 reviews:
I'm hoping to get something worth accepting today!
I had a decorative carving with an odd photo angle but it looked like it was on someone’s house.
Are there any PRP rules I should watch out for.
As if the camera focusing at the roof? Yeah, that's definitely PRP.
Oh and thanks for your support of this adventure @patsufredo-PGO
I got a 3-inch toy airplane on a glass display case inside a store.
Also a poster in someone's house. The houses were up next to each other, and garage doors were obvious - with chairs, toys, curtains, etc showing it was a home. EDIT: It was a poster of a local hero, from first part of the 20th century, which was nice.
And Coal of someone's industrial job, inside a warehouse or factory or something (it was intentionally vague). Satellite veiw showed chemical or grain tanks outside the building. The building was already a Wayspot.
'Wait Triangle' is how Google translated the title for me.
It looked like a communal seating area but the support and description were translated as 'This is good etc' with not much more explanation.
The last one sounds like the same one I got. I rejected it - thought it might have been a dupe of the building, not sure, but the photo wasn't worth adding in any case, it didn't show anything of interest.
Another reject …..presumably the google tag says it all
Obvious reject under K12🤪
But seriously if I don’t get something worthy of approval soon I’m going to switch off.
My first one was a hotel swimming pool. :(
Well that's actually not a school..., but still rejected for PRP 🤣
I had a religious statue. It was a good nomination. So far, most of the nominations I have seen are fine, and generally better than the ones that I see in my own local area.
Did you by any chance review this exact nomination?
Just noticing its location is similiar to what you've reviewed XD
No but whoever it is, is clearly following a pattern 😂
Still on the initial five I received in the first ten minutes then nothing since :
I still havent any, I change my 😣bonus locations but no places in Indonesia yet.. also I cant change again my bonus location 😥
Eventually got another Indonesian submission. It was the exact same nomination as one of the five I'd already voted on, a duplicate.
Out of curiousity, how many people have selected Denpasar (Bali) as their bonus location?
I have, what’s up? I’ve seen shrines, temples, statues, as it is a Hindu-majority area.
I chose Denpasar and I have reviewed 5 Indonesian stops. They were all statues at temples. I use the computer to review on Wayfarer and for the translation, I use the Google translate app on my phone. The app allows you to use your camera on your phone and auto translates for you.
