Upcoming Changes to Nomination Reviews - Discussion

Hello Explorers,
There is a change coming next week to your experience while reviewing Wayspot nominations. In this change, we have combined the Location Accuracy and the Duplicates Check questions. So what does this mean for your reviewing experience?
To start, you will now be looking for Duplicates of the Wayspot nomination while also checking for the Location Accuracy. While reviewing, make sure to check for obvious Duplicates first since if it is a Duplicate, that will finish the review just like it does in your current (soon to be previous) reviewing experience. After ensuring as much as possible that it’s not a Duplicate, you can move onto checking the Location Accuracy within the same question. You will still have the option to Suggest A New Location (that experience did not change) and you will still have the 5-star rating component. (see below)
Now that these questions have been combined into one, you can rate them in the following ways:
- Rate 5 stars if you can find the Wayspot nomination on the map, the marker is on or within a few feet of the object’s real-world location, and it is not a duplicate.
- Rate 3 stars if the Wayspot nomination is likely to exist in the real-world location if obscured by trees, if you are unsure of the real-world location, and is not a duplicate.
- Rate 1 star if the Wayspot nomination cannot be found on the map and it is not a duplicate.
For additional information or questions about the new process please review our support page Reviewing a Wayspot Nomination after the change is made or feel free to ask in the discussion. View the original post HERE!

@NianticTintino-ING will this change fix the issue of the review scrolling to the bottom of the page (streetview) automatically?
This looks like a simple change that should save some scrolling . Thanks.
Excellent! I've always been frustrated by having them be separate.
I'm guessing that's how this change came about.
This is a positive change. A good initiative and hopefully a fix to the scrolling bug for almost half a year.
Love this!! Really helps streamline that part.
@NianticTintino-ING Will there be further updates before a review flow is added to the app? For example, the elimination of the 5-star system.
Thabks for this update. Can we get a confirmation that the Streetview will still be seen and interacted with from the review page @NianticTintino-ING ?
Probably.. the picture posted by Tintino has the yellow pegman for streetwiew.
Awesome!
@NianticTintino-ING , can we also get back the scale bar (broken since last major site redesign)?
Makes sense to merge these two items. Appreciate the update.
Such a good change. Nice!
This makes sense
If there are three broad options why do we have a 5 star system with instructions for how specific situations translate to 1, 3 or 5 stars. This makes no objective sense at all.
This is a Yes/No/Maybe question and should have options accordingly.
I see it defaults to map view, which is fine for checking existing wayspots. But you'll need to toggle to satellite view, to make sure the (non duplicate) nomination is in the right place. So I'm not so sure it'll save us clicks overall.
I think it will be more of noticeable improvement on smaller screens as it reduces scrolling.
I think it will be very easy to review.
Occasionally, the same candidate is filed at slightly different locations.
As a result, the review for duplication and accuracy was double-checked.
I think it is efficient to review duplicates and accuracy at the same time.
The point of this, of course, is that it will save Niantic money to use Google maps once instead of twice. Google is not free to businesses.
Is it on purpose to display nominations from outside playbox, bonus or home locations with this update?
i got nominations from anywhere in the world.
intended or bug ?
hopefully intended, however i dislike the new format. No address, and satellite images is off by default.
I was reviewing during the change of the formats and now I can't review anymore. It's just gives an error. Hopefully they'll fix that...
Bug. Being worked on.
The format changing is intentional. The global reviews are not.
I do miss the address showing up. I think the map consolidation is an improvement, though.
+1 on missing the address. It's sometimes useful for confirming/cross-referencing a location.
Why never "Rate 2/4 stars" on anything? These instructions always make me wonder about that. 😁
Other than that, thank you Niantic for listening to our whining about the annoying streetview-jump and for implementing a hopefully new and better design. This new design takes some getting used to, but I'm excited to get into the feel of it. 😄
A shame, honestly. I had submissions from Italy, USA and Australia, among others, and I find it a really refreshing change of pace to review stuff outside my normal sphere of influence.
It still jumps from Location down to What Is It, skipping over historic, visual and safe access.
This is dreadful. Much worse than the street-view jump, honestly.
Problems (caveat: I’m on my phone and haven’t tried it on a computer yet. Maybe that’s a better experience.):
* Smaller photos.
* No address.
* Having to scroll if the description and title are more than four or five lines (this is a ridiculous change and will just further penalize submitters with interesting submissions that need long descriptions).
* If the closest potential duplicate is at all near the candidate, it’s thumbnail blocks the view of the candidate and is hard to close with a tiny “x”.
* The location/duplicate check should at a minimum default to satellite view. Map view is useless for verifying location, so I need to either switch or drag the peg man first thing every time.
I had recently gotten back to reviewing after a hiatus. I feel like going back on an even longer break now until some of this gets fixed.
Ah, so it's just not myself then. I guess this is also intended?
