Just updating the thread that these are still being auto rejected by the AI. Thought I'd try my luck and see if they'd fixed the filter since the challenge end but apparently not. Maybe I'll try again next month 🙃
That’s a pain. I haven’t submitted any recently myself but have seen a handful in review so some are getting past it (or were submitted before the AI was activated).
I have an EVII sitting quietly in queue...
I've seen more than one EII and a couple of others in review to over the last week.
Submitted this on September 21 after reports of the AI rejecting postboxes. This entered niantic voting two days later and was accepted on 7th October.
Can I make the observation that maybe the car in the background stopped the AI rejection?
To a general AI filter it would look different enough than a postbox with a lighter outline such as sky or grass, changing the silhouette it would see.
Maybe a way to get past the bad AI filter for future submissions. Have something dark behind the postbox.
Rule 1) Make sure pictures have a car in them from now on :)
And then get it rejected for having a licence plate, even though you strenuously made sure no number plates were visible 🙃 (totally not speaking from recent reviewing experience or anything...)
If there's a car in y picture I can't get out of shot I usually put my finger on the corner of the lens to block it out.
Great jokes you tonight 👍😂
I don't know if this being pulled into niantic voting quick after submission helped it? What does a submission that is going through the ai look like?
Submitted an EVII on the 10th, upgraded it yesterday to see what would happen. Accepted this morning.
That is starting to sound like there has been a change then. 🤞
Robot has had enough, got drunk on the job and fired.
The box is in an occupied cell but I thought I'd see if it would go through. Probably need a few more to be sure.
I'm still having the AI filter reject mine. A VR postbox auto rejected, but another GR one hasn't yet been shot down yet. Exciting times.
A point which doesn't seem to have been discussed is the importance of allowing rural players to play. The GR postbox is about the only thing in my village that is unique, public and on a pavement (passing the pedestrian access rule). Having a local Pokestop would make a huge difference. The alternative is that I have to drive to a town every time I want to catch a Pokemon.
Well someone's managed to find a way to get around the automated filter... It's just a shame they managed it with an Elizabeth II postbox haha
I've had one approved this week and several shot down by the AI
Wayfarer has created lots of post box experts in the UK who are invested in post box history to the point they find it impossible to walk past a new one without checking to see its cypher.
A group of enthusiasts not much different to train or plane spotters.
Which leads me to my point....how many of us would be delighted to see a new one installed with Kings Charles Cypher on? If you heard one of these new rare ones was installed a few roads away, would you go and explore to find it? I would.
So, these new rare ones encourage exploration and are very rare, so elegible 😉
This one on the Isle of Man?
I'm sure I read somewhere that for a lot of them they'll just install a new plate over the removed EIIR if possible.
The first CIIIR in Scotland will be the first installed with the monarchs initials since 1954, apart from the EIIR they accidentally installed in Dunoon in 2018 and made the locals whine until it was removed, I guess someone could add that if they really wanted to.
Road trip to Isle of Man required 😀
You proved my point about enthusiasts too as the average jo wouldn't know that 😁
If a postbox has the cypher of the Monarch on it when it was installed, i dont get why they would put a plate over it with a new monarchs cypher. Or even bother replacing the postbox that's there as those things seem to be bulletproof and eternal.
I sense more reading for this unintentional side hobby
Good excuse for a visit! 😁
It's only on the newer type they can remove this bit and add the new cypher I guess to save money.
I'm sure the initial batch of CIIIR will be pristine and beautifully engraved with assorted members of the press invited to watch Charles and Camilla post a letter in their new boxes as Charles makes a hilarious joke with much guffawing by the plebian journalists and hoi polloi graced with being allowed to watch such a momentous occasion as an old man and his mistress post a letter.
I have said, fhe first one of rhe new Cypher installed in each country should be grounds to be accepted ad they will be historical (most likely we will get a news article about them)
This one. Surprised it was missed and isn’t already done.
Appreciated. I haven’t checked your other thread yet but I would guess it’s “too much nature” for the AI. Better to take a photo front on and try to fill most of the photo with the postbox and then your supporting like the main photo you did.
I have cropped the picture to focus on the pillar box. And still no. Even tried just the cypher
I found one that made it past Emily!
So anyone have a Queen Victoria one accepted yet? Apparently according to the appeal decision it’s just a “normal postbox with no significance”. Well why have we been allowed to submit them all this time?? Utter disgrace this. They basically so no more postboxes or what?? Yet I see wall mounted ones getting through to voting
