Anyone know why my nomination was rejected?

Reviewers say it was because of orientation and mismatched location. Clearly, they have not used street view to check. I am unsure about orientation because making it landscape will include the laundry shop next to it, which will add to the visual clutter. What could I have done better?

Idk man. It's actually a cool spot visually. I would vote for that!
Have a good day xo
Landscape generally is better for supporting photo. That is for relating your POI with other objects/places neighboring it, including the laundry shop or any other object visible in street view is standard. Also, 4:3 or 1:1 size works better for the main photo. Nothing reject-worthy for your photos but points for your submission improvement.
Rejection reasons only show 2 at a time. If you had refreshed this, you might have gotten ORC, meaning the reviewers may think it does not meet eligibility criteria. Local reviewers are generally responsive to effort but it would help to mention any social post, articles, or reviews to substantiate your claims. You have already mentioned that it is unassuming hence proof needed.
Streetview shows the sign blurred out, this is where the supporting with other objects is helpful. I'm also not clear whether it is part of the commercial building or a separate property next to it (which potentially is a single-family residential property).
Also, this is better posted in nomination improvement btw
Thanks, bud! This really cheered me up :D
I agree. I think this really could have been better. I was new to submitting nominations when I submitted this. I will take note of what you told me. I assume you are already an expert at this, so if you don't mind me asking, can you confirm if it really is okay to have people present in the supporting image? If Niantic were to reject this, I might try again, following your tips. Problem is, this place is usually busy so I was lucky to get an image of it without people.
I'm no expert but been doing this since Wayfarer release.
I'm lax with supporting photos, anything not malicious is ok for me. Content guidelines seem to allude that people who pose or objects that look deliberately placed for any of the photos is potentially identifiable. This thread discusses your question further:

That said, do not leave any reason where the reviewer can reject your nominations whether correctly or incorrectly.
If this place has art or a burger mural on its walls, I'd recommend submitting it instead (assuming location is eligible). Restaurant appeals are a roll of dice and lengthy.
I definitely would have rejected this for photo orientation.
Niantics guidelines clearly state that photos with excessive foreground are ineligible (they get freaky distorted when they get compressed and look awful) .
You need to crop your photos to zoom in on the object of interest. 1:1 or 3:4 works great.
That is not what the "Orientation" rejection reason is for. It's for photos that are sideways, upside-down, or significantly tilted. I would suggest you read the descriptions on the rejection reasons you are using prior to submitting your reviews in order to reduce confusion on the part of the submitter receiving the feedback.
Honestly the first one of these I've seen why the rejection reason wasn't obvious.
Unless the place is a chain I'd absolutely have accepted it. Orientation doesn't look off or anything.
