How to upgrade a location.

So I recently earned an upgrade. However, I don't know how to cash it in. Can someone give me a step-by-step instruction of how to do it? Also can you make it a simple step-by-step?

Upgrades can be applied to a nomination you have awaiting determination.
By default automatic upgrading of nominations is turned on. In this case when you earn an upgrade it will be automatically applied to your oldest nomination awaiting a determination, unless you have one marked with the upgrade next flag. In that case the upgrade you earned will be automatically applied to that particular nomination.
You can only have one unresolved nomination at a time marked as upgrade next and that flag can't be manually removed. If you have no nominations awaiting determination when you earn an upgrade it will be banked to be automatically applied to your next submission.
If you have turned automatic upgrading off every upgrade you earn will be banked. Then you assign the upgrades to your unresolved nominations as you see fit.
