A little more than a year after the call for tenders, the almost 18-meter high cross commemorating the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Croatia was moved from the Zagreb Hippodrome to the nearby southern Sava embankment. The relocation of the cross was requested by the Archdiocese of Zagreb, and the costs of around Euro 100,000 will be paid by the city of Zagreb, i.e. its citizens, which raised the most dust in the public, as well as in the City Assembly.
