Pokestops Not Showing

I understand that not all approved pokestops will show in POGO but what's the point of nominating if 90% of the approved do not show in-game?
Then you try to nominate again, or someone else nominates, and it's rejected due to being a "duplicate".
How is someone who doesn't have Wayfarer supposed to know that it's a duplicate if, duh, it's not a pokestop in the game.
We try to create more stops and gyms for active players in areas where there are so few available and then you can't get excited for an acceptance because it probably won't show.
Niantic needs to do something about this as it is frustrating. We nominate for POGO because we play POGO and want to make it more enjoyable, accessable. Not to have it put elsewhere.
Comments
In the Pokemon GO app, there is a feature that you can turn on while nominating that allows you to see all existing Wayspots. As for what is the point of nominating if there is a chance it won't show up in Pokemon GO? It is precisely because the Wayspot has a chance to show up in other games. Unfortunately, too many people view Wayfarer from the perspective of Pokemon GO only and should adopt the much broader perspective of how it helps all of Niantic's games.
Hey @KIttehC0re-PGO,
Please refer to this link (https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/41750/my-wayspot-nomination-was-accepted-but-does-not-appear-in-my-game-s-where-did-it-go#latest) for more information and clarifications.
Best,
It is annoying and frustrating but you are submitting to Niantic's database not just for Go.
That is not going to change. It's up to you if think it's worth the effort to keep submitting under those rules or not.
You are nominating Wasypots which may get used in Pokémon GO.
They may also get added to Ingress, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, ARealm, NBA All-World, Marvel: World of Heroes and many upcoming things.
You agree to this by submitting a nomination. Pokémon GO is not the only game.
To follow up on @NianticAaron ’s comment there’s a discussion thread about it too.
Hello and welcome@KIttehC0re-PGO
your frustration and annoyance is understandable understandable. The underlying issue is that Niantic have not explained what happens clearly when you are submitting from Pokemon Go.
Although the impression you are given when you go through the game to submit something is that you are submitting to be a pokestop, the reality is that you are submitting something with the potential to be a pokestop.
Your approved nomination is accepted not into Pokémon Go, but into the Lightship database - this holds all approved wayspots and is separate from all Niantic games.
That is the end point of wayfarer, and what happens next is not related to wayfarer.
Each game sets its own rules as to what it will take from Lightship to use in that particular game.
For Pokémon Go the rules revolve around the use of some mapping software commonly referred to as S2 cells it breaks down the surface into smaller and smaller cells - each size is referred to as level and a number.
Google: S2 cells and Pokémon Go - Pokémongohub has a very good explanation.
The key is that in Pokémon Go only accepts 1 wayspot in each Level 17 cell, so if there is already a pokestop or gym in the game, in that cell, yours will not be selected to enter Pokémon Go.
Learning all the information will help avoid the disappointment that you are currently experiencing.
if you need specific help to understand what happened in a couple of cases do post and I will explain.
Thanks Eli, I'll have a look into the cell information. I've had multiple stops approved on top of one another which show, then others not at all. It's confusing and frustrating which is the reason for my post. It's not always easy to find something worth nominating and when I do, it's for the interest of other players.
Thanks for being helpful :)
If you look at my post here it will show you how to turn on your nearby waypoints when submitting in Pokémon Go.
It may have benefitted players of other games, so it’s not a loss at all.
When that happens, you most likely placed the stops in the corners of cells so you got "close" ones to show up because they were across the imaginary borders from each other.
I can show an example of this that I took recently if it helps.
At this section there are two trailmarkers for the same trail. These are in separate cells, so both show on Pokémon GO even though they’re close. One does not show in Ingress sadly.
I agree it is frustrating, especially because in PoGo, the option for nomination is called: New Pokéstop
For ppl playing only PoGO, nominating through New Pokestop option, without opening Wayfarer at all, it is confusing having an accepted but non-appearing Pokestop.
Those nominating on Ingress are also told they’re nominating a New Portal, and could have that not appear on Ingress too. 🤷
@Idaholoser-PGO it is point that has been made repeatedly that the language used around submissions from all games into wayfarer is frankly in my opinion misleading.
It would be mildly annoying if the impact was low, but the impact is high. And in my view the impact it has on the players morale is important.
Maybe one day the wayfarer app might help. ……Soon ™️
