Congratulations to you, I suppose. I'm very jealous of those who are able to get Wayspot nominations reviewed and approved. Since the "fix" was implemented I was able to review two nominations in my home city of Boston bringing my total to 8, and for a brief period 0.0019% of my reviews were local. Otherwise it's just silly reviews of trail markers in the middle of nowhere.
One of the local nominations I reviewed was a genuine 5* nomination on June 8th and hasn't made it into the game yet. The entire city is a complete dead zone even though we have a number of active Wayfarers on Discord all experiencing the same issues, but nobody ever sees our nominations.
I came here to ask if you had flicked the wrong switch. Before you had "fixed" it, my upgrades were actually still working. After you "fixed" it my upgrades have stopped. I thought at first that there were just older ones that had been stuck for a while that were being prioritised, but now I notice something else odd. Waves of other unupgraded submissions are going into voting. They rarely complete without an upgrade though so I now have 73 in voting.
My last upgrade resolved after few days since was supposed fixed. It's a similar time before the mess but after the GCR in Spain I don't really need upgrades to get my nominations (in Barcelona) to get resolved quickly (not as fast that during the GCR but still very fast), so I can't really know if I would get the same time resolution without the upgrade. I think that I won't use anymore in near future except that I put nominations in rural places.
what was the reasoning behind the changes that broke upgrades? are some upgrades being prioritized over others? unintended consequence of fixing something else?
Listen, I'm as frustrated as the next person. But the point of continuing to review is to build up more upgrades. The problem will eventually be resolved. And when it is, you will have a lot of upgrades to responsibly deploy.
Unless you have also spent hours reviewing to earn these upgrades, just to use them and watch them sit there ineffectively for the past two months, then you don't understand the frustration. Wayfarers who have been affected by this 100% deserve to have any wasted upgrades returned to them, at the very least. I myself have had 3 upgrades go to waste. It's unfair to us for putting in OUR time and effort for THEIR games, and have our only compensation be rendered worthless and taken away. That user is right to demand the upgrades be returned, even if the language they chose was a little strong.
I won't zip it, because what they are doing is brushing it under the carpet and ignoring it. Someone has to remind that his is an issue, and what a terrible company they are with the way they are dealing with everything.
Nope, completely disagree with you there and not for the first time. I would personally like people to boycott this all system. Watch how those "fixes" would magically appear in a blink. Upgrades have not been working properly for ages, not to mention their decision to pull out some of the nominations from "In niantic review" and leave them hanging like they've did few months ago. Wayspots were left hanging in limbo between queue/in voting for weeks.
The lack of attention to this problem has caused a lot of people, including myself, to become extremely frustrated. It would surely make many community members glad to see the attention this deserves actually paid to it. It's extremely frustrating when something works properly for months and then suddenly doesn't, and the people responsible for whatever changes made it not work can't seem to get it to work again, but berating them won't solve that.
Given that, it would be wonderful to get more frequent and appropriate updates from Niantic on this issue because it's clearly driving folks mad and demoralizing many.
Look at the when the thread was made, when the supposedly first fix was implemented, when the backlash happened and what's happening now. Just stop defending them.
There is an issue. Let them focus on that first. And yes I do agree compensation is needed. But first focus on the issue, providing details. If things work again then it would be the time to discuss what and how big the compensation should be. Mayby even setting up a seperate thread.
At least we should refrain from personal attacks. The lowman on the totem pole isn't the one pulling the string.
Yes progress is too slow, the crew handeling this is either under staffed or doesn't have enough experience with the mechanisms at work. That still doesn't make it right attacking someone who has the decency to communicate about the issue with us.
Niantic does need to spend more money on their moneymakers. Don't know how things are in Ingress or the other games but Pokémon Go and Wayfarer are full off bugs and other issues.
I would agree that more updates would be nice. On the other hand, if there is nothing to tell, it's useless. I have the feeling that he either isn't allowed to share more details or simply doesn't get them. I do appreciate him communicating. Something Niantic generally isn't known for. Other than standard textbook PR blablabla.
As someone who has done Community Management for games before (obviously none as large as Niantic's) it's not terribly difficult to **** off an email or walk over to whatever Project Manager is responsible for the Wayfarer team's work and get updates. Publicly releasing ETAs is bad policy, but communicating with people is good policy. Three comments from Niantic in four weeks is not a good look when their system is FUBAR. It costs nothing to leave a comment saying there hasn't been movement or when to expect an update, even if it's a non-update. For over two weeks there was nothing from Niantic that truly re-assured us they were looking into the issue, and peoples' frustrations have risen at their poor lack of comms.
TL;DR: "We're here, we're on it, we're with you" is fine. "We're ignoring you" is not.
Thank you for your patience while we worked on this new fix. The Wayfarer team has applied the fix and we can see the fix having a positive impact on Upgraded resolutions. Thank you all who have already reported seeing momentum in your Upgrades as well. You can expect your upgrades to return to normal speeds in a few hours. We are mindful that this incident has impacted the usefulness of your upgrades and we are looking at a way to identify the impacted upgrades to reimburse. We will provide you with an update on that shortly once we are sure the situation is back to nominal state.
Like always, we will continue to monitor the progress and keep you updated if we see any issues with Upgrades.
I don't need any reimbursement for my three that got caught up in this. They did get processed in time to not get marked duplicate of someone else's nomination, so I am good. Thanks for taking the issue seriously and addressing it so quickly. And for acknowledging the issue and keeping us in the loop.
my 2 upgrades resolved today. thank you very much for the fix and this update. I hope I didn't appear impatient but others reporting what the status was every few days was helpful too (even when still stuck). -As I held back for a month before trying to use an upgrade due to seeing the issue was ongoing. but hearing this and seeing more people report resolutions of old upgrades seems very good.
Thank you for hearing us about our lost upgrades and for this quick followup update. Looking forward to my test upgrade from a few days ago going through soon!
Thank you for the update and thank you for the fix. All of my nominations upgraded during the issue are resolved by yesterday. I'm glad to hear that you are actually considering reimbursements.

Not only that. Why attacking a person doing his best to get this resolved?
They better zip it. They do not add anything useful/constructive.

How is thread made by Niantic about the issue brushing it under the carpet...
It's wholly unproductive to bicker amongst ourselves @Shepeteksht-PGO / @MrHeineken88-PGO etc.

Just had an upgrade from June 1st get approved.
...And six hours later another from May 4th.
Now only
sixfive more in waiting!I have an upgraded stop that has been in "Que" since the issue began. If upgrades still not working why would I upgrade another?
I would save them for when it works again. Not much use for them now it seems. Just sometimes you get lucky it works.
Just make sure you turn auto apply off.
@Aquablast64-PGO
It went through. Definitely faster than my last one (stuck for almost a month) definitely slower than they use to be.
resolved within 24hrs of posting and went though already🙌
Iv had 2 of 3 upgrades finally resolved. 1 of my husbands has also been resolved. Maybe some improvements. Bug fixes maybe working ??
Have now had four Upgrades go through in the last 24hrs.
