World War 2 ghost sign for Blue Coupons. Clothes rationing was introduced to the UK in 1941 as part of the war effort with items of clothing all having different coupon values
Ghost signs are the remnants of hand painted adverts. Many are slowly being eradicated by modern building practices oblivious to their importance. This sign is one of three next to each other on a block of flats in Leith, Edinburgh. In 1941 clothes rationing was started in a drive to help the war effort, these adverts were part of that initiative. It's unique wartime content adds to its historic and social value.
Street view where I put the pin.

That’s a well written description if ever I saw one…….and I like ghost signs and I like the way something that was at the time just a practical sign, now tells a tale of social history.
nothing wrong with these nominations. were they rejected?
Unfortunately, yeah. I wasn't sure if It's missed something.

Just realised I should have put the pin on the other side of the pavement 10 feet away :/
Still seems harsh but I'll resubmit.
I wonder if people missed in your supporting photo seeing the sign to match the local. How faded it is, made it hard to see to verify the location. I almost wonder if a slightly zoomed out main photo to catch the sign under it, will make it easier to verify location. Or perhaps your supporting info point out the sign under it for verification of location. I really had to look hard to see if the location was correct
Could be. I think it's easy to see in the larger version. I guess it gets lost if reviewers are not willing to expand the pic
