0.279.3 5ucks shiiite. create route. I have to turn on AS. To follow route I have to turn off AS. WTAF. Who Niantic are your product owners, product managers and BAs. Did they actually do any research? Test and learn? Hold on is there a different line of communication to Niantic in Niantic. Because clearly there is a distinct complete lack of something.
277.1 worked Niantic. Why fcuck with AS?
and I just spent 1 hour with a route that should at worst taken 10 minutes to walk. but no. It goes backwards and forward through a building that takes multiple attempts to replicate. In a building closed to the public at least 10 hours per day. Across a road that you cannot walk across. And no amount of backwards and forwards would work. 1000ms becomes 3000m. And your system excludes infinitely better routes. Who. What. How......???
What the actual. Make your product have some sense of reality...... AS on to create route. AS off to follow . Effs sake.
When will you usck it up. Pause and go again.
Seriously. your product management team needs to seriously be held to account.
They don't need it for the product so why make it integral to the product ... It is extraordinary
Either there is something we are not aware of or otherwise poor management and without openness sadly we lean to the poor side of the equation. I should not have to prostate myself to the alter of Google when it is not required for creating or following routes.
I apologise @PkmnTrainerJ-ING I promised myself not to get cranky but my buttons just go pushed....;-) So am on a rant rage :-(
yes yes I should get an iPhone.. :-)
And my post that disappeared and just appeared. Sorry for the double up in posts........
How do you get your Route submissions to be reviewed? Mine have been sitting in Under Review for over a month? Are they just in limbo due to a bug? I've no intention of going through and repeating them again, or submitting any further ones until there's a bit more clarity. This release has been an absolute shambles.
I submitted a new route on Thursday, and then yesterday evening it got approved. At the same time, my 3 routes from July that had been showing as under review were also approved.
my ranting mood is gone. :-) Apologies if I upset anyone
OK. two new routes. Both under 1K. One starts in a park and end at the sea. One is in a park and ends in a park. I submitted. Clicked on nearby routes, saw in list and I walked immediately. There was no mucking around in the speed they got published. I created both within two hours of each other.
I did not use words such as Beachy (A local POI is the Beachy Mural) That route is in review - its path starts in park and meanders through streets - or the word chill - those two routes still in review (though one has the word yacht spelt wrong) but run along side water.
In the centre of Kingston Upon Thames there are 11 routes on the nearby with others saying 2-3 miles away they have struggled to get even one through when there are no routes nearby and theirs go straight to review and stay there.
Yeah, if my local Discord is any indication, most players just want the easiest, most convenient route options they can get (which makes sense). But as long as it doesn't matter to you that some of your routes aren't going to get much play from others, I say do what you want. 🙂
Anyway, I mainly came here to say that, now that the monthly limit is up to 10, I think we're at a good place. I don't feel like I'm terribly constrained. Now we just need a counter in-game.
I find it interesting that the review process is taking so long.
If they are really opening up creation to more users then this list will get longer.
It makes creating a route an interesting proposition. Part of me wants to see the list clear before I create more. And I only have 4 in review.
Listening to all the commentary here and having seen two routes get rejected for no apparant reason and routes either get published on the spot or not - it is clear there is little visible rhyme or reason to acceptance.
I mean all I need is some pointers as to why in review and why rejected and I can then improve my nomination. Is it the spelling mistakes, words like chill or.......
@The26thDoctor-PGO So have you tried to do one of your 20K routes a hundred times :-)
@flatmatt-PGO Yes a counter would be great. Been thinking the same. And re the easy routes. It makes sense. My weird routes are not so popular :-) So I have deliberately made some easy ones. And yesterday I was glad. Was in a total rush doing a million things and I just went and walked round my park.

:D
After seeing all the quick accepts, I thought I’d try a Route loop around my local park. Now it’s sat with the other 14 that are Under Review…
Right. Seriously cranky.

I just ranted and the post disappeared into the dark space of oh golly what is this post about.... :-)
I have to turn on AS to create a route. I have to turn off AS to follow a route
Head. Brick. Meet. WTAF
That’s very odd. I just keep it on and have no issues but am on iOS
They don't need it for the product so why make it integral to the product ... It is extraordinary

Don’t worry. I know your venting is not directed at me.
@PkmnTrainerJ-ING So you have 15 under review now? woa... I will wind back my commentary.... 3 currently
And thank you. seriously ... Thank you.
Have a good day. I will head off to my zzzzzz space. Dreaming of the perfect route accepted first time with no AS issues... Mwah ha ha ... :-)
18 here.
9 from the latest batch of 10 are in review.
Seven from June 21st - 24th and two from July 6th and 7th.
18 how many km/miles is it? :)
:)
17 of them are under 1.5km
One is 12km and one is 19.7km :D
I will probably create a route and walk over the 20km when I can create more to see what actually happens unless anyone else has tested it?
I heard someone on twitch say that they are planning/going to open up route reviews to players eventually.
That doesn't interest me much to be honest.
I don’t think that would be wise myself. Much like Ingress Missions shouldn’t be reviewed by players.
Me either for lots of reasons. One being out seems like itwould be even more of a slog than reviewing Wayspots.
They did say someone was talking to a WF person and that's where they info came from so who knows.
Well it would be nice if they actually communicated full stop.

It may be a bug if they have been in review for that long.
It's hard to tell though without any information, I have some that have been in review for up to two months, potentially bugged.
Some more recently that are probably not bugged. :/
Has anyone attempted making a submission based on S2 cell location/distance?
Who knows which level though....
I would love to know who said that if you can remember. Depending on how large the streamer's audience is, that's something that should be clarified.
I only heard it second hand so not sure who said it, sorry.
All 5 of the ones I submitted a month ago are still under review. Thrilling to see the speed at which Niantic choose to get things done.
Your theories?
All my routes generally is in different cells. Just the one "under-review" that is next to "published".
I submitted a new route on Thursday, and then yesterday evening it got approved. At the same time, my 3 routes from July that had been showing as under review were also approved.
I hadn't got a clue.
Without a map of all routes and knowing what is our isn't on review it would be difficult to figure out, assuming they are using a system :)
my ranting mood is gone. :-) Apologies if I upset anyone

As @The26thDoctor-PGO says. I ain't got no clue 😃
@Koalatronic-ING are you able to create any new ones?
I was told off and chastised for making 20km routes by locals today, jokingly though.
I knew they were taking the p1ss unlike some of TSR who think I should burn in h3ll and I'm bad for the community :D
It has spurned me on to do more, a 20km on the John Muir Way, one on The Great Glen way and one on The English Coastal Path at some point :)
On the review/queue/possible cell thoughts.
In the centre of Kingston Upon Thames there are 11 routes on the nearby with others saying 2-3 miles away they have struggled to get even one through when there are no routes nearby and theirs go straight to review and stay there.
So now I have even less clue about how it works.

I'd already made 5 others at 0.5. - 1km on the same 185 mile trail.
I wanted to do something that would be a bit of a challenge to get the badge for :D
I'm thinking these have fallen into a black hole and won't see the light again?
It seems like it would be pointless trying to ask any kind of Niantic support without ending up going around in circles :/
