i went for a walk on some moorland today and thought I’d try to make a route.
Started at a Trig Point then basically downhill. By the time I get down to the pokestop in the valley the signal started to go. But it ended.
Then the problems.
Gave it a title but not enough signal to get to next screen. Tried several times. Restarted. Closed phone.10 min walk back to car. Tried again. Now it’s not giving me the write up screen it’s telling me to go back to where it’s paused, 🙄
Since I can park there, I went back. Went to where it paused tried to record title etc nope. So I left it on that screen and drove home about 25 mins.
At some it had moved onto the description screen. Completed the description and the photo part etc pressed submit.
And it went through.
amazed I went to see if it was in the list and it was with a pink dot to say it was published. At 2. 7 km will it stay.
@The26thDoctor-PGO Yeah. Just that my last 5 creations have now gone to instant review. So will stop creating until I see movement.
Will see if I have somehow hit that rolling total. But as three nominations in review were in between instant acceptances I am still scratching my head :-)
So this is just bizarre to me and I’d love an explanation. I received early access to the routes feature and the very first route I created was a very well thought out route of my local downtown district.
I must have walked this route myself 20 times and I walk this area ever day. Today, my route was just rejected after over 300 people have walked it- for being in a “Dangerous and unsafe area”.
What?
Are we not supposed to be playing Pokemon Go in urban areas? Are entire cities like NYC off limits? I even carefully crafted this route to minimize the number of times it crosses a street. And these are city streets with stop signs and cross walks.
I've still got July submissions under review, as are all the August ones. I don't see a lot of point making any more routes. There doesn't appear to be any consistency as to when they're looked at.
I feel your pain. Happened to me. But mine was a coastal path. Different rejection excuse.
Not sure anyone knows exactly how rejection post a publish works but as The26th said - it could be - enough people low balled it, people clicked the report option OR Niantic put it through the AI review again. And or combination of......
@PkmnTrainerJ-ING create that one from June again from the other end with different photos, text and description too :-) I did that to one and it was approved instantly.... The other one after 6 weeks in review was also accepted --- But hey how was I to know.... I thought the review bucket was becoming the deep well of lost routes.... So...
I wouldn't be surprised if a report is heavily weighed towards a rejection. We had a route through a park that got high ratings and couple of days ago it got rejected due to being "inaccessible". Luckily, my June submissions got through and one of those is in the same park, however, it makes me wonder how long it takes before that one get rejected for [insert random reason].
@GribbsterK-PGO I think it happens quickly. I cannot see why accessible routes that have gone through the system would be rejected if not actually checked
Though you say weighted. Maybe. Each route when reviewed gets a weighting. If the weighting is low enough a complaint can simply tip it over the rejection trigger. Possibly. Particularly is AI is at play. hmmmm
Like nominations. I wish I could delete routes in review. And just do them again. I see spellos, text, description I would do differently or even use a differing end point.
It would also take items out the queue. Maybe even speeding things up.....
They seem to publish lots of routes in batches. I guess we'll have to wait a week or two for the next batch and hope that it includes some of your own.
The other route that disappeared was linked to the statue called Hier (letters spelling the word 'here' in dutch)
I did think it was for the same reason at first, because the first route statue 1 is placed in water, however it wouldn't make sense why route two was deleted. The only thing they had in common was that they were both linked to the statue Hier.
Wayfarer is simply hosting this thread as a source of peer support……we have been left to our devices, which has its plus side. However the downside is that there has been No engagement by the Routes team with this thread, they don’t comment or respond. So we are left in the dark as to what is happening but at least there is a group of us.
I am deeply worried that confused and annoyed and probably some malicious players are reporting perfectly good routes that others are engaging with.
I have been getting an issue where routes auto pause for no apparent reason. I have a route in the local park. Sometimes it just pause. un pause. pause. un pause. Last night 12 times in a row. when I finally unpaused it - and I walked it spinning, catching etc - my route was not tracked. All the way to the end. Of course I failed to check the blue route was following me....
Learnt that lesson. As the route was near loop I went again. But this time. On commencing. I immediately crossed the road and walked parallel to the route for 50m and crossed back.
That worked. All i can think of is that at the start there is a mobile dead zone or something.
Re the review pocess. Still have six under review. Shrug shoulders. I reckon it will move again around the 17th. Any takers
I also agree people are reporting routes for no reason. As I have seen routes rejected on the same route that subsequent routes are accepted so. We shall see if this is the case.
I was going to ask some locals to report, one at a time to see when it would go, one of mine that has a huge dead spot at one of the points. It took me 15 attempts until I finally got the badge. Each time get within 150m, signal dies, walk past the end point, route has paused, walk back, signal dies.... Restart etc etc
Stats say it has been completed 45 times though so what do I know :)
A stuck route of mine from July 24th very recently got rejected, after over a month in review, for being at a school zone. Mind you this is in an unrelated park a couple miles away from the nearest school. One where several (terribly named) routes have been accepted. One was basically just my route, presumably submitted at a later date and just didn’t get stuck, so no real reason to resubmit. (Too bad they’re ALL looped, unlike my attempt, so no Cells for now)
It also gets really annoying to pause a route, go somewhere else, and try to do something like battle in a raid, only to get a pink error notification that I “Need to get closer to the route to resume”, preventing me from doing what I actually want to do until whenever it realizes I’m not trying to unpause a route at all.
I guess we'll see if these update tomorrow and they are taking the weekly stats from when stats first appeared which would be a bit odd or if it's the start of every week.
Or neither and someone has to press a big button when someone remembers :)

Don’t give up on a submission. 😎

Hey All,
So this is just bizarre to me and I’d love an explanation.
What gives?
It may have received enough low ratings or reports to either be instantly rejected or reviewed again and rejected.
There's not much you can do about it at the moment unfortunately.
I've still got July submissions under review, as are all the August ones. I don't see a lot of point making any more routes. There doesn't appear to be any consistency as to when they're looked at.
I’ve got one hanging around from June. A walk between two parks, which I thought would be a relatively easy approval. Then my others are all August.
I feel your pain. Happened to me. But mine was a coastal path. Different rejection excuse.

Another day. No movement on the routes in review.

Bingo - I have wondered that a while. And if the batch is a set number as some people have been through a batch cycle but not everything reviewed
Good thought
I thought we might get a weekly stat update but... Maybe it will just be monthly.
Route was accepted August 1 and suddenly rejected yesterday for being inappropriate.
What is it and where did the route go?
I think this is the most I've seen on the nearby
Did anyone manage to work out the distance range for something to appear on the nearby?
The route start point and end point are two different statues.
This was the route before rejection:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/3vcHbKVQQMfLGSZa9
Not sure why it would be inappropriate or unsuitable content.
My best guess is that someone reported it for this reason?
The local discord community is saying that one of the other routes connected to one of the statues also disappeared today.
Maybe if it's an unclothed statue... The horror...
I think you are correct it may be because of the water but probably due to reports/ratings.
The other route that disappeared was linked to the statue called Hier (letters spelling the word 'here' in dutch)

the 18+ statue in question
@NianticTintino-ING
I am not convinced that rejecting the legitimate route in order to eliminate exploit using incomplete specifications of route.
The XL candy exploit should be solved technically.
I apologize if this is my extreme assumption.
I don't think that's happening personally
You'd have to ask the relevant team dealing with routes though.
I've made more than one by the The Thames so I don't think it's that.
Can we get more transparency on how easy it is to get a Route removed like this?
Not from the Wayfarer team I don't think.
You could ask the Go team dealing with them but I imagine you'll hit a brick wall. If you really want to know you may have to figure it out yourself.

Do the rewards improve after doing the same Route 20 times?
