I did a few early on to try and set up my community ready. Ones near local parks and the like. One ends near a large shop and I’m sure they wonder why people walk just past it and then go back.
I've found that anything around 2k people are a lot less willing to walk.
I would happily do the canal walk and more but I think most players are interested in the Z cells at the moment before the actual route so will look for shorter versions.
I added another one today. Straight to review. So apart from the random AI one the other week my review list is just growing.
I thought with the new routes challenge it would magically improve but wishful thinking.
So I wonder how they select people for release (sounds dodgy that does)
Werid routes or a silly system
I did see someone elses route published the other day. Only 550m Title something like "A route for all the pokemon". it runs in a straight line and there are only two pokestops. The ones at each end.
I was speechless
************************
Is anyone else getting the issue with the end point not appearing and having to do a restart.
And I really really hate the AS harassment by the app asking me to turn it on. Am I sure. Go to walk arount. Turn it on... UGH
I have noticed that where I created routes all the other routes published are all shorter. And those walking mine have dropped off a cliff. So Suspect short walks are the go and seem suited to the current challenge. But time will tell
Maybe it has to not trigger certain things that would require a human review or it's based of locality and number of current routes or..... They roll dice.
Had that happen to me when I tried to do a fairly long stretch of the canal, got all the wya to the end and then it wouldn't let me select an endpoint, heart breaking
This was back when they were rolling it out, rhere wasn't a fix at that time (I tried everything, pausing the route, closing the game down and back up).
Still no movement of routes in review. Just getting longer as I keep nominating.
Really pleased to hear others routes suddenly got a shift on. :-)
but is anyone else stuck with no movement.
The last time this happened it seemed like a wave with different cohorts getting through. But with no rhyme nor reason as to why people are part of that wave.
@The26thDoctor-PGO How far/how long did you walk for your longest Route? I’ve done one just now that felt like a good distance but I want to do further.
Longest published is 12.5km around the perimeter of Richmond Park
Five between 2km - 5km.
Sixty five under 1km.
I nearly messed the 20km up. When I reached 19.5km it said,
'If you go over 20km you may lose your progress'
The stop I was going to use was within. 0.5km but my signal kept dropping with the next stop away being over the 20km. Every 0.1km it kept saying the above.
I managed to choose it after a few restarts and walking around in the same area at 19.8km :/
I would avoid creating long routes. Even Niantic suggests to stay under 2km. Otherwise, split the walk into multiple routes for more rewards and more chances for a zygarde cell.
Lack of rewards for doing long routes. Why would someone do a route for 5+ km for the exact same rewards? I've done those and not even get a zygarde cell. Only a few in our community do these long routes and the shorter ones are far more popular. It's better to split up a longer route in multiple short ones with the current reward structure.
Sure. If people want to do short ones locally, as said, there’s plenty for them to choose from so I don’t see the harm in switching it up. We don’t know if the reward structure will change and longer routes may be better or you may want to have a good exploration around the area/walk along the riverside/travel along a trail on the longer route with others.
I'd definitely disagree with that. Routes can be multi functional in that they can be used by people who are doing it for the rewards/cells but they can also be used by people to discover new places or just go on an interesting walk/cycle or collect a lovely 20km badge.
I personally don't collect shiny Pokémon and find community day a tedious bore. I wouldn't want to get rid of it or curtail someone else's enjoyment of it though.

I only do them if it's a walk o do regularly .... and I remember to even bother doing them lol

My ones were along the canal near me and then a few round my park, but annoyingly very few people have actually done mine lol
In fact, pretty sure one side of the canal the walks are just me walking back and forward on it lol (it's a 2.5km walk)
I did a long canal walk early on but it crashed out on me and wanted me to go back to the start when I was nearly done. Will have to redo that one.

No idea.. Rolling dice might help

That’s a 10, plus my level modifier…so that’s a 14 week wait!

I know this is just a .gif but it'd be sweet if we had dice rolling functionality here on the forums. Not that I have any idea what it'd be used for
Nearby route notification is gone for me.

When you say gone. No option to see them?
Hey if I get you. You are walking a route and when you get to the end you have an end point that has no red flag.
If yes. I click pause and restart the app. The end point comes back. Thanks to @Elijustrying-ING for that helpful hint!
This was back when they were rolling it out, rhere wasn't a fix at that time (I tried everything, pausing the route, closing the game down and back up).
Sorry, the annoying pop up notification in the bottom right corner

19.8km but it's still in review since 22/08.

I would definitely make sure that there are no signal drops at the end/start point on any long routes I make in the future.
Not just for me but anyone else walking it would definitely 1* it if they couldn't complete it :D
I'll test to see what happens when I go over the 20km when I have more available to create.
I can do that walk in about 4 hours normally but I found a few things to submit on the way and didn't always pause the route.
Thanks. I’ll give it a go.

We have plenty of local short routes that are already approved so I don’t see a problem also having some long ones.

Okay, everyone can stop submitting now, we have a winner.

Good luck. I hope the AI doesn't take a disliking to some of the text. You should get bonus points for the references.
Ah, unfortunately it is not my Route. One I saw in a Futurama group. But now I have an idea for one nearby…
