How long does an appeal usually take?

I have had an appeal waiting for 4 months, I was curious how long they usually take and if there was anything to be done in the meantime? It seems the general approval/denial rate has really gone down and I was wondering why that was too. Thanks for any answers in advance!

They are processing appeals in the order of the date they are appeal. I think they are processing around October 22 now.
