Unfortunately, some areas take a long time to reach a decision.

If you would like to get a decision faster, you can earn an "upgrade" by reviewing other people's nominations. If your review of the wayspot agrees with reviews of the entire community who voted on it, you will receive an agreement, and after 100 of those, you receive an upgrade. This is tracked through the profile view with a percentage until an upgrade is earned.

When using an upgrade, your nomination is shown to a larger audience, and more people vote on it, reaching a decision in a few days instead of months.

Voting times in an area is dependent on the number of people voting on nominations relative to how many nominations are currently in voting. If you and other people around you review more, then you can help the area reach decisions faster.

An area near me used to have 4-8 month voting times, but a few reviewers came in and are reviewing daily, and reduced the voting time to 2-4 weeks.

    Hope this answers your question!

Niantic is running a cleanup program on the oldest outstanding nominations, in date order. They are up to April, 2022.

If you don't upgrade it, and wait on Niantic, I'd guess they'll get there sometime in August 2023. It goes like this: They send an email to the address you had on file when you nominated it (or maybe the email first used when you signed up for the game) saying they've put your nom on hold. They want you to edit if needed to bring it up to date - then release it. Once you release it, it'll go into Niantic Voting pretty quickly, and should be resolved in a few days (less than a week). If you don't release the hold in 60 days, it will be auto-rejected.

According to https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/43578/wayfarer-roadmap-ama-june-2023#latest in Jan-Jun 2023 they manually reviewed 120,000 old nominations, and auto-rejected 480,000. So beware! If you've changed emails on your primary game, check your old email and/or check https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/nominations at least every 30 days to see if it's been put on hold.
