Why do you get review that is like more than 100km away

I noticed I've been getting reviews that is more than 50km away, some even located in another island (2 hours flight). I've checked my setting and even put bonus location as well that is close to home. Shouldn't it be better for reviewers getting more local nominations to review? Whenever I get those very far, I don't review as I don't believe I'll do justice.
And this lead to my second point, I've noticed a lot of my nominations have been rejected, with a lot having "other rejection criteria" (1-not helpful, 2-seems like those reviewers do not know the location and places well) or duplicate when this is clearly not. Cannot seem to be able to appeal either
Sorry I just find you put in the effort to have more PokeStop and those who are reviewing are not locals. Clearly they don't know well. Just to put into perspective, my walking 2km radius only have 4 PokeStops and I don't live in rural but suburban area. When I try to put nominate they get rejected with very little knowledge about the local area. 11 rejected and only 3 accepted

Hello and welcome @MooMooOomm-PGO
It is frustrating when this happens, but by coming here hopefully we can help.
This is the map that @HankWolfman-PGO referred to
For someone based at the red X this is what is considered local.
For any priority nominations the area expands to cover the whole country - so that would possibly explain those much further away ones.
When I started I thought local meant a much smaller area. As a result looking back what I was writing in the text was not really helpful. You need to have the approach that the person reviewing knows nothing about the area. So write things as you would to a stranger. Make good use of the supplementary information text. Explain what seems obvious to you. Provide links to websites etc.
if you can post a few rejections we can try to help improve them. If you are comfortable telling us where the area is (co ordinates are good) we can even have a look around and make suggestions.
it is probably best to do that over in the nomination improvement section.

Review areas are very large. @Elijustrying-ING had a screenshot that showed just how big they are, I can't find the post right now though.
If you only ever got things very local to you, you would quickly run out of things to review, and you could also form a local cabal and exploit the system. So it helps to have a wider range in that respect.

Other Rejection Criteria is typically meant to be used when your nomination just doesn't meet the eligibility criteria of a great place to socialise, exercise or explore. Things like generic benches, stop signs, waste bins, etc. would all fall under other rejection criteria.
As for duplicates, not everything that is submitted will make it into Pokémon Go, as each of Niantic's games has its own proximity rule that determines which wayspots are able to be added to that game. Even if they're not added to a particular game though, they still exist in the database, and reviewers will see them when reviewing your nomination.
If you want, you can take screenshots of some of your rejected/duplicated nominations and post them here (in the case of duplicates it would be helpful to know the location). If you're attaching screenshots, use the paperclip icon to attach them to your comment as otherwise it might go into moderator review.
As for appeals, if the button isn't there it means you've already used one recently. You need to wait 30 days from when you last appealed a nomination before you can appeal another one.

Wow. That would be a lot of nominations @Elijustrying-ING
@MooMooOomm-PGO I did not choose local. When I am in Australia I get all of Australia. From Christmas Island to Lord Howe Island, Tasmania to all of the mainland. It is an area that is vast. It is that vast there is no way of knowing what the community tastes are. I did learn what stobie poles are! and I never imagined miners would be playing!
But I will, To the best of my ability, and with my own interpretation (some may say flawed ;-) will follow the Niantic Criteria when reviewing and in a consistent manner. That is all you can hope for and do when reviewing. And remember by reviewing you drawing down the pot of items to be reviewed.
So when @Elijustrying-ING says you writing for a stranger - you are. Plain English. Good title. Great supporting photo of object in situ with contextual surroundings. Explain why it meets criteria in supporting information. With links to evidence of the POI existence etc
@MooMooOomm-PGO when I started my failure rate was epic. I got frustrated as my earlier post will testify and many readers rolled their eyes at me. So Two things. It is a game we choose to play in. We not going to die. So chill at failures :-) it is part of the game. AND Two really do use the criteria and nomination forums. That is how I learnt to do better. Sharing nominations you feel should pass will help.
