I mistakenly flagged a Muskegon, MI Wayspot as invalid.
I mistakenly flagged the following Wayspot in Muskegon, Michigan, USA as Invalid via my Ingress Scanner...
B.C Cobb Generating Plant Plaque
Only part of that Title, "B.C Cobb Generating Plant" was visible in my Scanner view. Because the BC Cobb Plant was recently demolished, I had assumed the Wayspot is invalid. Had I more carefully checked the Wayspot title (and photograph) to see the "Plaque" I would not have flagged it as invalid.
I am very sorry for my mistake. :-/
I'm not sure where is best to post this so this forum is my current best guess.
If I need to post this info somewhere else, then please direct me.

Ingame reports are ignored anyway.
None of the invalid wayspots that I've reported in the last year has been removed
Earlier on we could add a comment why a wayspot was invalid.
Now you already need to report it in game, then wait for the rejection mail, then open a topic on the forum and add proof why it shouldn't be a wayspot etc, and then hope for the best.
So if you encounter invalid wayspots while playing, and you do the effort of reporting them, a few days later you will receive an email with the result of their "review" (bot probably) which in the end makes you feel: "why did I take the effort to report it anyway"
I'm not sure the exact process either but I wouldn't worry too much. I have a feeling removal relies on multiple players reporting it and not just a single person. Saying that though, I have no evidence other than how long I see it take for removal without using the request form.
We had a Banksy mural removed in the area in 2022 and it only disappeared last month from the game.
All I can really say is, try not to worry, it was a mistake and not abuse.. I reported one that was removed and took 5 months to be replaced by local authority (after they said it wasn't going to be) and then I was so glad Niantic had declined the removal in the first place. Just try to be as careful as possible before you use it and you should be ok.
