Why do perfectly good wayspots get rejected
I will be honest, nowadays i am afraid of voting, first because people are rejecting good wayspots, and then if i feel it is a good one i will acept it, but then if it gets rejected doesnt count to my rating (not that it matters)
As an exemple my last rejection was a old tavern that was requalified, its a huge popular place in my grandparents village, its visited daily with a lot of people from nearby places, it follows all the criteria. It also has a museum about the village history inside. That was called the village of sorcerers a lot of years ago and the museum shows somethings about it and also has lot of antique stuff like writing machines and engines from the pass.
When i see a restaurant sometimes i dont know what to do because not all restaurants have history, and if is not in a good state normally i reeject it, but idk i feel that the criteria should be even more specific, Sometimes i can see a bakery that is a stop, then i submit a bakery and gets rejected. I know a lot of people vote but i dont know if the system is good enough. Sometimes i fell that if 10 people acept and 1 reject it gets rejected, Sorry about my english is not my native language, and sorry for the huge text but sometimes is frustrating to have the work and then dont get anything from it..

From what I see most prolific reviewers take themselves way too seriously and apply an impossible standard to every nomination, rejecting the vast majority of them. When your reviewing, if you think it’ll make a good poke stop and isn’t a duplicate or blatant abuse like someone’s house then vote to approve. I approve 95 percent of what i see and I still have a great rating. I would never require people to write a 95 page thesis on why their local pub in special to the community. If it’s a chill local tavern it should be a stop.
I honestly see this more about personal integrity and value to the games than about watching acceptance rates or if poor/good nominations make it or not. Reviewing can be so difficult and nuanced at times, so many times I've been ready to pass it through and then the location is so far off it's either abuse or so inaccurate it pulls my whole process backwards a step.
Point is, we need to focus on the guidance and rules put in place by Niantic regardless of whether we agree/disagree with those choices and use a lot of our own common sense. A pub/restaurant is a great place to socialise but too often I see people nominate a social venue and put "N/A" or "Follows Niantic criteria" as their supporting text which tells me nothing at all about why it fits a great place to socialise at all. Furthermore being eligible or a great venue might not fit acceptance of it being unique or other areas of value.
Social POI's I feel are scrutinised the most and unfairly so. I am still fighting for a little abstract coffee shack in the woods to pass, since we have so many players locally who use it on community days and global events, I have trouble letting go of the idea. Trouble is finding the support for it and it's difficult when supporting imagery can't really be showing it overcrowded (risk of being flagged with various rejections) nor can it really show it empty (risk of not showing it being very social/popular). We can only try our best though and try not to be disheartened when we don't get the result we'd like 😶
