By materials, did you mean "items gathered from Pokestops"?
Try adding lots of friends if you're not level 37 yet to be able to submit new Pokestops. They provide generic items you can get from Pokestops and also huge exp points from friendship level, as well as Vivillon postcards. You can get their codes by looking at various social media like X.
