Rejected nomination. Help

I’m kinda at a loss as to why my nomination keeps getting rejected. I have submitted a nomination for our mobile home park entrance sign three times now and every time seems like there’s a different reason it’s rejected. At first it was cause of no historical or cultural significance, then for not having safe access, and now for being “farm land” or private residence. My thing is that there is a brand new development right across the street that already has more stops and a gym then the community that’s been here since 1971. Pokémon go has been around since 2016. The development just opened last year 2022 for a bit of context. The development across the street is not very different than my nomination, if there’s any difference at all. Just wondering if it’s cause ours is a mobile park “trailer park” and not a “house” development. I don’t see how the place across the street has anymore cultural or historical significance compared to ours if it’s brand new. I understand we should be happy to have those nearby, but accessing those from our development means crossing a busy road with no crosswalk to safely walk nearby it.

    What exactly are the pokestops across the street? Probably playgrounds and such? And what exactly are you nominating? These things matter. Not whether or not it is a housing development or a trailer park.

    The poke stops across the street are entrance signs.

    I’m nominating the entrance sign to our mobile home park.

    Is this sign;

    • A great place for exploration
    • A great place for exercise
    • A great place to be social with others

    ?

    Do you have playgrounds or a community notice board? You’d have a better chance nominating something else.

    The north entrance across the street is actually a gym. The other south entrance is a pokestop. They have two different pool pokestops. We just have our single pool stop. I agree these things matter am I doing something wrong?

    Can we see your nomination?

    You can’t judge what to submit by what’s already on the map. It has to meet those criteria to even start on the road to being accepted.

    pknmtrainerj-ing. I gotchu but the S. entrance across the street just got put in. It’s brand new. I submitted pictures in the comments about my nomination, but it says they need to be approved.

    It will be useful to see, but still doesn’t matter when something was approved. Sometimes coal or things that shouldn’t get accepted slip through. Think about those three things first when you’re nominating and not “this is similar to something else that was approved so it’s clearly acceptable”.

    Hello and welcome @IllestMC-PGO

    I get your frustration. It must be very annoying to see similar things approved whilst yours are rejected. It may well be that those were wrongly accepted.

    Helping people with nominations is something we regularly do. So that we can see what the reviewers saw please post Title, description, supplementary text, both photos, and if you comfortable the location.

    We can also have a virtual look around to see if we can spot any potential.

    In USA, most neighborhood and apartment entrance signs are rejected under Niantic's advice. But some inattentive reviewers let these slip through or the entrance sign must be uniquely artistic and/or has another feature like a clock tower or waterfall.

    Most of these entrance signs don't even have a safe sidewalk which could be another valid rejection.

    I think this is easy. A mobile home park entrance sign, neighborhood entrance sign, apartment complex entrance sign, etc. generally does not meet any of the acceptance criteria and thus should be rejected with Other Rejection Criteria. There are rare ones that will qualify based on artistic or historic merit but they are very rare.

    As others have said, sometimes they get approved by reviewers who don't know better.

    Hi IllestMC-PGO

    The only way we can really provide help is to actually see the nomination. Can you please copy and paste your nomination from Wayfarer Contributions. Include Title, Description, Supporting information, photos and address. Please copy and paste so if we have to do a search we don't have to type it out. Because images are involved your post may go for review. Give it a while but it should appear after review. Don't do a me and repost :-)

    Please note: Eligibility does not equal acceptance. Existing POIs do not make our nominations eligible or acceptable. A POI nomination must stand by itself.

    Reviewing is done by people with a variety of lenses. This means it is best to create your nomination for Niantic and for the reviewer not for our own reasons with our own lenses. So read the Eligibility, Acceptability, Rejection and Content Guidelines again and again Niantic Wayfarer (nianticlabs.com). If you have one iota of doubt or concerns then rest assured a reviewer will and with their different lens will probably magnify that lens.

    However until we see your nominations it is hard to say where we can help etc

    So please share

    My nomination is the last few. Others across the street are the first pics.

    In this one, the Mosaic one that’s been accepted looks visually interesting, but I would have liked some more details such as who designed it and when it was placed etc. myself. It doesn’t fall under exercise or social but you might point it out to someone when passing by and say about the design so I can see it could have passed under exploration

    The other sign (your nomination) has some issues. It’s not as visually pleasing as the other one as it’s just words on a sign. Also, in your Supporting Information you’re almost at the begging for a PokéStop stage when these Wayspots are used across all games, so you should keep game language out and use that to explain why it’s a great place for exercise/exploration/being social with others and adding any relevant links. The text on the app says;

    Explain why you believe your PokéStop nomination is important and what Trainers will see there.Effectively communicating these points will help reviewers evaluate your nomination and understand its value.

    I don’t think you have done this with your supporting information. As it is, I think it’s a weak candidate and likely not acceptable anyways, but some information for your future nominations.

    In more than 30,000 reviews I think I've voted to accept exactly two neighborhood entrance signs. I don't remember the details of the first one but it was a one-of-a-kind sculpture.

    Here's the other one, plus a photo of another one nearby. It's a neighborhood called The Brickyard, and each of the entrance signs includes a brick sculpture of bricklayers laying bricks. I approved BrickyardEntrance as unique sculpture that just happened to also be a neighborhood entrance sign.

    A couple things to keep in mind. The sign itself you nominated probably is not eligible and your description and supplemental information did not describe why you think it is eligible. In addition, the sign is situated pretty much in someone’s yard. I don’t think you will have much luck with this one I’m afraid. You seem to live near pretty decent amount of pokestops so making a route shouldn’t be that hard.

    Recently, I came across this elaborate Texas size neighborhood entrance sign with a 3-story tower and soothing water fountains. Too bad it didn't have any pedestrian access.

    I agree with the others that it doesn’t meet any eligibility criteria. It also lacks safe pedestrian access - there are no sidewalks or obvious walkway near it.

    Hi at @IllestMC-PGO

    Thank you for sharing. Great questions.

    Never mention anything to do with a game. Creating a nomination is about being wayfarer for Niantic and nominations have the potential to be in more than one game.

    Mentioning routes, stops, gyms, PGO anything will not get you across the line

    For an entrance sign to pass it needs to be pretty special. I yet to see one that has met eligibility of a great place to explore, exercise or socialise let alone acceptance criteria.. But that is not to say they cannot be POIs.

    I will repeat these bits I mentioned earlier.

If you have one iota of doubt or concerns then rest assured a reviewer will and with their different lens will probably magnify that doubt.

    Oh and remember it is just a game. If you feel any frustration take a deep breath. The game is not logical at times and because it relies on peoples interpretation of the ambiguous guidelines it is not hard to go but but that already exists.

    Good luck and thanks for asking. I improved my nomination success rate by coming to the forums and listening. Don't always get it right but way way higher success rate!

    @IllestMC-PGO

    There doesn’t appear to be any rejection reasons given in your screenshot. Did the rejection email say that the Team had rejected it?

    it looks suspiciously like the AI filter stepped in and meant it was rejected without going to a community vote.
