Appeal that's a yes and a no?
Under suggestions from Wayfarer ambassadors (thank you for your advice @Gendgi-PGO & @tehstone-ING )
I would like to really bring this to the attention of Niantic and @NianticAaron that the decision is first and foremost in the description, that this is a good nomination for a waypoint, said by the reviewer of the appeal. But, the statement that follows, the photo is blurry, is too honestly infuriating. The picture is not at all that blurry. If you click the picture you can tell the quality is not that bad at all. I have seen other waypoints nominated with much worse pictures accepted. I respectfully request that this is looked at again, as I don't feel the rejection justifies the outcome of the appeal. A new picture isn't currently possible as there are "scribblings" on the sign and this decreases it's chance of being accepted, plus if I could sort the sign (which I'm unsure I could at this moment, the decision is with the local council) this means waiting longer to finally get the right answer from reviewers or even longer if an appeal is needed.
Thank you for your time.

I'm extremely nearsighted myself, with lots of astigmatism and outdated eyeglasses. I still would say that photo is acceptable. My trust in Niantic's review processors (they don't seem to be reviewers, as they seem to use some sort of dartboard method to choose rejection reasons) has eroded so far that I'm more likely to trust the curators of Foursquare data....
Yeah, that's completely bs, like, extremely bs. There is no way in a million years that picture is blurry. The appeal reviewers are getting horrible now. I thought I had a bad rejection but this is atrocious. Imo, @NianticAaron this should be looked at and swapped to accepted
Niantic rejected a permanent art installation in an international Airport with a link to a website proving it exists and is permanent. Thanks for the reminder of why I shouldn't waste my time and effort with Wayfarer.
Doesn't look blurry to me, but it does look dark. If you can't take a new photo, download the existing photo and brighten it up a little (there may be some kind of "auto-enhance" setting on your phone, which may also sharpen it), then submit again and select "choose existing photo" when prompted.
But "it looks dark" is not a rejection reason for a photo unless it's so dark that you cannot discern the object.
Hi @SpiritGold-ING
Can you post your whole original nomination please and what were the original rejection reasons?
Its clearly not a blurry photo so that appeal rejection reason is incorrect, just curious as to the rest of the nomination.
Just remember that screen brightness also plays a role in this assessment. A photo that looks just fine on my PC while reviewing may become completely unrecognizable on my cellphone.
Sure, I’m just saying maybe the darkness is what caused Niantic to say it’s blurry.
I do think it's a bit of a blurry photo the way it is presented in this screenshot.
I come across a lot of blurry pictures these days when reviewing submissions. Like photo's are taken with an old Nokia from 2006 with a 0,5 megapixel camera.
The screenshot looking dark is my mistake, as that's due to a power saving mode (I still haven't found out) to turn it off. Makes all my screenshots look dark.
Here's the original image.
It doesn't look dark to me, and I've got my phone brightness right down, at a push it's like slightly dark sky in the background but the sign is perfectly clear
It's 4:40am, I'm tired, my eyes are not exactly great as a result... And I can read that perfectly without even having to zoom in on it.
I think the Niantic reviewer who rejected this for being blurry should've gone to Specsavers
Unfortunately my screenshots are always dark, think it's a feature on my phone lol 😅. I've turned the brightness up.
Here are pictures of the original nomination.
Hope this helps.
Niantic: has the ability to recognise the identity of someone's face in the far background
Niantic in the middle of the night:
That photo is only blurry if you zoom in so much you’re looking at the pixels. Otherwise it’s perfectly legible and I don’t think it’s dark at all.
I don’t find the reason for rejection to be credible.
Has it been added since the OP started this because there is currently a way spot with nearly the exact same photo here: 52.590190, -2.189758.
Fair enough, this looks perfectly fine to me. Maybe it was just reviewers who didn’t like it and picked that as a bogus reason.
@Leedle95-PGO there are 4 of these signs over the large field area. The 2 nearby already in are myself, just trying to get the last 2 in. This is actually the oldest nomination as I've done it twice now for the same rejection reason.
You might be careful. These signs are not park name signs or trail markers or the like. They are just a rules sign. Nominating multiple of the exact same generic sign could raise red flags
Focus is them being the entrances to the Playing Fields, I've put that in the description as I was worried about the similarities of the signs. I've done this for a few others and not had much difficulty. Although the signs were much more unique I guess. But the main stress on this is the picture. I'm glad that the general consensus here from everyone is that the photo is blurry. Truth be told I took that picture back in 2020, with a phone I had in 2014. 😅
Ah yes, ye olde, “low quality photo” rejection. I know thee well.
I do wonder what my odds are, of the decision being over turned by Niantic 😅. Seeing all the comments doesn't fill me with much confidence. I'm going to start prepping another nomination for it, once I've had chance to see if the council will clean the sign up.
If it was a stronger nomination I’d say pretty good. It’s how I have to get the majority of mine through unfortunately or just resubmit over and over until I get lucky with no troll bombs. However, this one is a bit iffy based on the information it’s displaying.
I can confirm I've just had an email and this has been overturned to accepted 😀
